Forget all the doom and gloom about our tragic loss on Friday and lets look to 2006 and getting that fire back in the belly and what better man to do it than Buddah - would he be a good midfield coach (aka Cresswell) he may be the one who could get the best out of our midfielders/onballers (I reckon a few of them were not as consistent as they were in Cresswell's year). Don't forget he was one of the best on ballers our club has produced. He has quit Peel Thunder and is moving back to Geelong, I reckon we should snap him up and get him involved with the on ball brigade and turn them all into 'mongrels' like he was. What are your thoughts on the great man?

It would be very exciting to see Gazza back at the club. He is one of the favourite sons, so i am sure the club would welcome him back in with open arms in what capacity i dont know.

To my knowledge we have a full coaching panel. Don't know if there is a spot for him...

i doubt he will come back, he is a club legend but i just feel he hasnt had the success coaching Peel or the TAC Cup that would make him appeal to an AFL club let alone Geelong. Look out for him to coach a local side in Geelong.

Also I think his brother Steven is still involved with the club isn't he? In which case Garry won't come back, as he apparently doesn't speak to him. Quite sad!

He applied for an assistant coaching role at Geelong not long after retiring, and was passed over. I know it's great to have a former player involved but perhaps he isn't any good as a coach. Thompson knows what he wants.

Then again, our forward line "coach" was a half back flanker so who knows.

Yeah, correct! The brothers don't talk at all!

Buddha won't be at Geelong while Steven has a role!

Which GFL club was he linked with in an Addy story about 2 weeks ago ?
They also mentioned Mensch as a possible coach of that same side if Buddha knocked it back.

Was linked to South Barwon. But with them heading into the GFL grand final as hot favorites why would they be looking for a coaching change? Likely to end up at Grovedale with Bluey or at a club like Lara or St Marys where the money flows freely. Wouldn't think a BFL club could afford him.

Yes he is on the selection committee at the club, I had considered that before posting this thread, maybe I was hoping he may bury the hatchett, but then again he would probably bury it in Steve's head :D

A bit harsh on his coaching record. Western Jets just don't have the kids in the area to be good as for Peel, Norm Smith would have struggled.

I wouldn't be too bothered. At the start of this season everyone said how the midfield would suffer because Cresswell left as assistant coach. Didn't make any difference.

The senior coach is what matters. He's the engine driver, the assistants are just his oil rags.

Peel could have a coaching panel of Barassi, Hafey, both Smiths, McHale, Sheedy and Jeans and they still would've lost. Apparently Buddha did quite alright over there - despite the one interesting move of playing everyone in front of the ball one day... or something similar.

I suspect the Western Jets problems are with their coaching assistants.... :D
