I thought we would run over Bris in the last quarter but not to be.

Our turnovers were costly.
Skill errors and poor decisions were punished

Having said that Brisbane's goal kicking kept the Swannies in it.It could have been a massacre if they kicked straight.

I thought Ablett did some good things. He has been on the list for a while and there was talk he might be let go so he was probably playing for his career.
Hopefully he will kick on.

How good was Barry Hall.

I hope Jason Ball gets back to full fitness.
Goodes runs out of puff in the third quarter and we struggle.

Overall a very good and unexpected season but now every club is aware of how good they are and how they play so it will be harder next year.

Go the Lions

yes i agree
the last quarter was woeful

maybe playing at the swans TRUE home ground wouldve helped..
I think the swans got it wrong there..

geez we missed mickey last night..

wat the hell happened to jude bolton, nic fosdike, and leo in the 2nd half?

shinning light was ablett.. great hands.. one thing which will lead to his downfall is he lack of speed.. he seems pretty fit but he seems like he struggles to create a sprint..

hope he works on it... cause he has to live up to his name
if he plays at all like his cousin.. gary jnr.. awesome..

Goodes was stuffed and Doyle got creamed in the ruck in the last quarter. Brisbane's crumbers were excellent all night and keep pumping the ball forward. There is no doubt they were tired but they keep the pressure on.

Our forward line missed O'loughlin badly, Ablett, LRT etc took too much time to enter the forward 50. Hall can only do so much.

What could of been.............

... and that goal! Proved the footy gods were against us. It seemed the ball bounced the right way for the Pies and Lions yesterday.

Bolton had a very poor couple of finals games - failed to step up to the next level. Hopefully he can do so next year, as he improved dramatically during the regular season this year.

Fosdike played very well against Port, however I'm not sure whether he still might have been slightly injured from that game or whether he just didn't really get into it.

From what I heard Barry was injured and could barely run in the second half, putting in only the occasional burst.

Perhaps a bit harsh on Bolton as he did a pretty fair job subduing Voss from what I could see.

You blokes had a great year and with a bit of luck with injuries may have gone all the way. O'Loughlin is irreplaceable. Goods was manful but he fought a lone hand around the ground. Both he and Hall struggled in the last term as I think they had shot their bolt with earlier efforts. I know the ball didn't go near Hall a lot, but the few times it did he was definitely a yard slow.

Swans may well go all the way next year......

I reckon that's about right. Those two - and Williams - did pretty much everything in their power for three quarters to get the Swannies into a position to win but they had nothing left to give in the final term. Goodes, in particular, was a spent force and we couldn't get the ball out of the centre. The loss of Ball and the lack of match fitness of Doyle really came home to roost.

I think that the last quarter was a bit bizarre but the first half had all the misdirected handballs and intercepts.

Bolton played a fantastic taggers game on Voss, and so sacrificed his own game. McGrath and Pikey turned out to be the smokeys in the end, and their brilliance (and luck) caught us unaware.

I agree the SCG would be a better choice (and I found the TYPE of crowd wasn't great either, as too many of them were new to the game and not aware of the impact they could have made if they'd cheered harder), but the AFL would have sacrificed 30,000 tickets at $65 a pop if they had not chosed TS.

Still a great event and effort by the Swannies. My bigger fear would be that they made the GF and got truly FLOGGED in Melbourne. This way they feel the confidence of NOT knowing whether they could have done it or not. It will drive them on to better things.
