Burton faces a week

Adelaide midfielder Brett Burton has been offered a one-match suspension by the AFL's Match Review Panel after a review of the weekend's incidents.

Burton has been charged with a level two rough conduct offence against Richmond's Chris Hyde during the second quarter of Saturday night's clash at Telstra Dome.

According to the AFL, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point), in play (one point) and high contact (two points). This draws a total of six activation points, which relates to a Level Two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-game suspension.

He can accept a one-game suspension with an early plea, and must inform the AFL whether he chooses to do so on Tuesday morning.

Burton is the only player to have been booked after the first part of round 13.

Take the week, I thought he'd get 2.

Am I right in thinking this will be our first suspension for the year? I cant recall any others.

Yep - that's our first.

He should take the week and head down to the newsagent and buy some scratchies. It's his lucky day.

Take it. Soft as it was, they'd be hard pressed trying to get him acquitted.

That gives Burton three weeks to get over any injuries he might be carrying and get himself cherry ripe for the latter part of the season.

The way some of the Ch 10 commentators went on and on about it you'd think it was worth 8 weeks.

One week is as good as we could of hoped for, I never thought he'd get off and in fact expected him to get 2 weeks.

Agreed, I really didn't see what all the fuss was about, oh, deserved a week for the head contact, and all. but, I don't think he was ever aiming him up, just over steped the ball by basicly one step.

Now this is optimism ;) - I think one week was optimistic though and I'm happy with that result.

Why do some of you lot think there was nothing in it? Basically, he ignored the ball and ran straight at the play and got him high. 1 week is a great result, i expected at least 2. Strange to hear we are appealing, but if one different word means no games, then i guess its not a bad thing to do.

If he's still suspended after the appeal, put in Knights i think. Don't bring Begley back in or use somebody who has failed too often. I wish Stiffy was ready!
