I won't be responding to the usual suspects in this thread because they will do their usual. This thread is for others to contribute their opinions and suggestions.

Firstly

We were thrashed in the middle and our i50 entries were almost sub district level

We deserved to lose and so it came to pass

However

That was the most one sided and biased umpiring it has ever been my displeasure to witness.

Every time our young men got some momentum horrid decisions blossomed

EVERY TIME

Those that can think beyond the title will get it but those that can't never will.

Roughead must wonder whether he has to buy a free kick, Wheel Of Fortune style. Gentle arm around the back, free against. Pushed under the ball in the marking contest, crickets…

I don't say it after every match (in fact I hardly ever notice umpires) but as the OP said, Last night's effort was beyond the pale. Initially I put the first one down to a mis read or bad positioning but after that....it just got embarrassing! We didn't lose solely on their decisions but it WASN'T a fair game. Most footy games have their 50:50 decisions and they even out across the game, umpiring is interpretive after all, but last night the decisions looked as though we were playing a game with totally different rules or that a different rule book was being applied to CFC compared to PA.

I'm currently watching Carlton v North and players are getting decisions paid for "in the back".....last night it was non existent. Players being tackled immediately (no prior) are given the benefit of the doubt (not so the CFC players last night) and ruck interference is being free kicked....again NOT so last night (unless Grundy did it!)

I don't care about results all that much (particularly in a year such as this) but I do like to see us play with spirit and competitiveness. Last night despite our players trying their insides out, we were never allowed to compete once Charlie got his first free kick!

We didn't play as badly as we finished the game against Carlton, but the officials decisions left a lot to be desired.

I think in general Collingwood get a good run with umpires, but last night was terrible! It seemed as if all their goals started from a free kick.
I knew we had no chance when Cox was incorrectly deemed holding the ball in the last!

There were certainly a few mystifying calls made.

Twice. Plus what looked like a handball that apparently wasn’t. Result? 3 goals.

Evidently roughead asked the umpire what he had against him.... he wasn't kidding either. Umpires have been stuffing up the push in the back rule since the interpretation reverted back to allowing the player at the back to hold their position. I still remember James Clement bending the player in front of him in half by pushing him in the back to take a mark. The one last night by dixon had me laughing....and yet the umpires will automatically pay a free kick to anyone who grabs their head or those ridiculous ruck infringements. To me I get frustrated not because it's biased but because it happens every week.

And I also saw a fair bit of the carlton game and it seems that the umpires might have been chatted about last nights decisions.

There just needs to be consistency

Yep, what I saw last night was bias at work — conscious or unconscious, who knows?
I posted this in another thread, so being brief… the issue of built-in bias affecting individual umpires needs to be managed. It’s not acceptable to leave it swept under the carpet. The club should be issuing a ‘please explain’ this week.

So should every club, games are being affected . . . meddled with.
This is not acceptable under any circumstances.

I wouldn’t say the umpires cost us the game, but they certainly made it hard for us to win.Dixon got gifted three goals from umpiring decisions that were clearly incorrect and we had a goal taken off us from a goal review that was clearly incorrect as well. That brings the margin down to less than a goal,so who knows what would have happened if the umpires hadn’t made these mistakes?

VAR is a Waste of Time and Money

Maybe we should have one thread where people can complain about umpires instead of needing to start another one every time a few calls go against us?
Why don't you take it to the "complain about threads thread" then Kappa.. or start one.

I don't often bother to comment on umpiring or think they had much impact on results. But in this case, umpire errors cost us any chance in this game for sure. More than just "a few calls" and they hurt us on the scoreboard.
