I've got to say, there is one subverstive character in the St Kilda footy club that is undermining the club from within and thats Rod Butters. In the words of that channel ten minx who hosts "Big Brother"..."It's time to go.....Rod."

butters is a moron... his decisions over the past 12 months would indicate he has no idea what he is doing... you have a great side and its just crazy how all the off field stuff can have such an effect.... would be interesting to see the results of your club had malcolm blight ever stayed in charge!

How could you sack a coach that in 24 month's was able to transform your list from one of the shitest list's to one of the best.
The following 3 years after that finals football,and arguably if you didnt have injurie's maybe grand finals.
Ross Lyon i feel for him,he is caught in the middle i am sure he is a good coach,but Thoma's did deserve at least 3 or 4 more years,a list that is pretty much his baby.
Butter's has proven to be a joke,he take's thing's personally,he claims to be a risk taker and a man that will make the hard choice's.
This time he has taken one risk to many,and he need's to pay for it,if Eddie pulled a stunt like that and made desicions based on personal bias his private parts would be hanging outside the lexus centre.
Another thing i cant believe is so many of you guy's not all of you ,follow Butter's blindly if he decides to swap Riewoldt for Saddington,there would be suppoter's that would back him.ITS TIME FO A REBELION

Butters has said he wants to keep this completely personal between himself and thomas and has hardly whinged and whinied about him. Maybe a court suit over an over $1 Million settlement Grant thought was a 'Gift'...

And he also said that while Thomas did transform the club and bring alot of tallent to the club, Thomas wasnt a Grand Final coach and needed to leave as best intrest of the club...

I have 110% faith in Butters.

Most of the people who have posted here are Hypocrites. The same people saying we were crazy for appointing Thomas now saying we are crazy for sacking him. Malcom Blight was the worst decision the board made, and the first in a good string was sacking him.

I have complete faith in them.

As for doing the things a president should to improve his clubs off field performance, well that makes great news, "Butters works towards improving the StKilda Football Club". That will sell.

I would be pissed off if somebody took $1m from me, and would probably say so if I was asked by the media.

I wouldn't go as far as you but you do make a very good point.

Every second person who I discussed footy with would tell me that Thomas was no good and we would have won a premiership with another coach and since we've sacked him all I ever hear is that we made a mistake sacking him.

Personally I'm not too happy with Butterss coming out and saying what he said yesterday. Perhaps he does have a point. We really don't know what is going on behind the scenes. However it's just another distraction to go along with our 4-6 record, big injury list, Moorabbin dramas and a cut-throat game on Sunday afternoon.
 
I have nothing against Butter's,i bagged him earlier on this thread becouse he deserves it,no one can deny it.
THE SACKING OF THOMA'S WAS PERSONAL LETS NOT KID OURSELVES.
Can you tell me a coach that has rebuild a side in record time,you guys only had 2 shit season's with him,you have made the finals 3 years in a row,the players would die for him, his the one thats changed your culture at your club not Butter's,would any logical President sack that coach?
Look at chelsea in Engalnd,there coach Jose Mourihnio had a fall out with the onwer of the club that Russian Billionare,he wasnt sacked.Why? he had the record on the board.
Butter's should remember he is the president of the club,if he dosent agree in the way things a run on the field,but at the same time your club is going forwards he should learn to live with it.
I suppose the same lab dog's that follow Butter's blindly,also think bringing 2 not 1 ruckman that are over 30 was fantastic also.

I think you will find Ranieri bought a large majority of the players in, got just as far with the Champions League, and most likely would have won the Premiership the next season when Mourinho showed up and told them to win (and got the biggest transfer bund ever). He was brought in as a marketing tool for apparently being the best. A lot like Blight was to the Saints.

The only simarly that can be drawn between Mourinho and the current StKilda organisation is that he makes issues out of nothing so that the players are not hounded by the media. Sounds a bit like Butters taking the heat of Lyon and co this weekend hey?

And this is an AFL site, not Hollywood Ball, stick to relevant topics.

When you put it like that i agree with u... But Thomas wasn't all that. With the talent of the team he should have done more and made many stupid mistakes. While he seemed to be good at keeping a good list and report with the players he wasnt a good stratigic coach.

Rod has lost the plot.
GT's sacking was personal, not performance based.

He has to go. His personal issues are interfering with the club.
Rod has done well for the club, but I feel over the last year or so, he has lost the plot and his relationship with players is not good at all.

Fox is right. The board must go. How any St.kilda can justify Rod's pointless outbursts this week is beyond me. GT bought us sucess and we took it away from ourselves, just like Alves. I dont think supporters can accept this again.

GT's best interests is for the club. Rod's is for his $1 million dollars.

I always see saint supports blaming GT for not doing better. Really, wtf? Three finals apparences in a row. Now look at Ross and where we are at the moment. Get over it and stop blaming GT. Ross has the same list, if not better.
 
What a joke.. Butters is a gun...People forget that Thomas was one factor to Butters in the strength of St Kilda on and off the field. He's also just as much St Kilda through and through as Thomas.

Thomas did well at St Kilda but it's his ability to install himself into a position of near absolute power to the point of destabilisation caused his own demise. Arrogance of himself, his position and he's friendship / money alongside, in my opinion, the inability to win the first final against Melbourne cost him his position.

This has been beat up by the media big time..I mean who really gives a stuff.. Everyone already made up their collective minds about Rod when he first came onto the scene. Snake oil salesman etc.. Dude.. give him a break, he's tried his best and succeeded.

Lindsay Fox is a moron, just because he is rich doesn't mean he is right. He nearly destroyed our club when he was president, Thomas is his lapdog. Just remember Thomas was the hatchet man when Blight was sacked, and most agree he was an average coach at best.
If I was owed a million and the bloke had no intention of paying it back, i would be suing in every court in Australia. He has bagged the Saints game style, passion, players and direction since he left the club. Nathan Burke stuck up for him this week, as you would expect as he was Thommos assistant coach. Tell Thommo to stay away from Bill Express and stop trying to hit the club in the guts with it's sponsorships etc. And if Reiwoldt wants to go, let him go because the club is bigger than sooks and individuals living in the past...time for the Saints fans to shut up and support their injury riddled team as we go forward.
 
Sack Butterss and then the whole personal arguments will have nothing to do with the club, the club can move on and leave GT and Rod to bitch between themselves

Just because I'm not rich, does not mean I will sit hear and watch Rod Butters put the club in a shit situation over something that did not have to be said at all in public.

If Rod thinks what he has done in the last week was important to the footy club (which he does), he is wrong, and so are you. Im hope you do not run a business, where you put it at risk over personal issues.

We have one guy saying we are moving, Rod saying we will stay, people being fired or leaving, players angry and not winning on the field.

Nathan Burke, Steward Lowe, Danny Frawley, are all for the club. It is not just me or other supporters who see that Rod has lost the plot. Rod's latests comments that he feared for his life to meet up and discuss issues with GT is a joke, its ridiculous. Haha the more I think about it, the more stupid it is.

Rod has made many decisions that have put this football club under the spotlight when he did not have to. He has lost the plot.

Sure, he can go to court to get his money back, no problem, but do not bring the St.Kilda football club into part of his personal shit.

If you can justify what Rod has done, heck, you are living in a fairy land. Stop trying to justify something that isnt, ffs.

If you think St.Kildas style of football is good atm, you are also living in a fairy land. GT is employed by SEN to commentate, if you do not like what he says then turn it off. If St.Kilda's style of play was good, GT would have congratulated them and the ladder would have shown it. Getting belted by 50+ points each week shows that we are playing indirect stupid football and thats why we are 13th. Dont blame the injuries, we have had the same thing over the last three years.
 
Yeah.... butterss is the next Joe Gudnick...all the money in the world but his welcome just wears out!
