Bye Bye Sheedy

Pev spending too much time in defensive 50 rather than being nailed in the midfield

Pev was tagging Harvey. He followed him everywhere.

Having Pev go back when Harvey goes forward, is actually not making a move, rather than making one.

Laycock to FF a waste of time, he had two shots a goal.

Thanks for the reply Longy, and while iu agree with the above imo that is not where we lost it.

We are soft.
When there is a time in the game where you have to go, with the exception of the peverill, types, we don't go.

This gives the other team confidence that they beaten us mentally and physically, and we have lost the game from there.

As i said in a previous post, i have noticed this in previous weeks, but was hoping it easn;t true, sadly it is.

It's the exact reason why carlton and collingwood beat us

Carlton beat us because we went to sleep, not because we were soft.

I agree, we do three things overly poorly. We don't run hard enough, we lead into each others space (see Lucas running into Stanton's space in last quarter) and we have too many blokes get sucked into a contest.

I thought we were horribly soft against Hawthorn, I thought we were much better in that area tonight.

carlton beat us because they applied the heat and we couldn't handle it.

We were better tonight, but no where near where we need to be.

The biggest problem is you can't teach it, you have courage or you don't

We can handle it, we proved that when Adelaide, Freo and St Kilda challenged us.

That isn't the issue.

And it's not courage either, you're talking about isolated incidents there and I know the ones you mean and you're right.

It's an application thing, we aren't applying ourselves to the contest correctly or often enough.

Our biggest problem is something you can't teach, our biggest problem is we can't play our best footy over a full course of a game. Our best footy is better than what we've seen from all four teams that have beaten us thus far.

Got to join forces with Kelvin Sheedy's comments above -

Constant changes destabilises the team AND the ensuing mess helps underperforming players hide from scrutiny.

There were two direct swaps.

Johns for Ryder.

Cole replaced Welsh and Mark Johnson went back.

That's not a heap of changes and Johns wasn't beaten and Ryder looked good forward. It didn't effect the way we played. If Johns had goals kicked on him, you could critisise, he didn't.

You're digging for something that isn't there, the Roos made as many changes as we did at half time.

We stopped running.

At the moment I can see no reason, no reason whatsoever why the essendon football club board would give sheedy a further contract- Yes there is still 16 weeks to go(at least of the H&A season), and things could change, but short of a VAST improvement, sheedy is gone!! His last contract in 2004 was a mistake, missing the finals in 2005,2006 and the way things are going, 2007.

PREDICTION: The Bombers will have a new coach in 2008, hopefully it will be someone Outside the club and hasn't been coaching another afl team(i.e neale daniher).
