Borrowing something from Ch7.

This weekend we see the last game at Subi (yah).

What are your four favourite memories - 2 games & 2 individual performances.

Team Effort
1. Victory over Crows in Prelim 2005.
2. Loss to Sydney in 2005 Qualifying final in 2006. Cracking game. 1992 Elimination final against the Hawks was a beauty too.

Individual Performances
1. Cousins return game after his holiday.
2. Sumich agaist Hawthorn game above was good too.

My fondest memory is (please correct me if I'm wrong on the year) was the final against Carlton in 1996. We sat in the wing due to the finals seating arrangements, and RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! a very young Ben Cousins gathered the ball and broke 3 separate Carlton tackles to then go on and kick a goal. In that moment you could see the kid was going to end up being our most talented/successful player.

Then the following week, despite winning, the AFL and their bull shit MCG deal moved us to Melbourne to play Essendon where we lost. ****en campaigners.

Can't really remember games, they all seem to fade into one.

Naitanui second game against the Hawks where he kicked 3 was pretty mint.

Nicnats 3 goals against hawks stands out for me
Also the game geelong beat us by 150 or so
Thompson ate a sandwich

that is the season - Cuzz ended up with three that day. We won by 55 and then went on to lose to Essendon. Good thing that came out of Essendon loss was a quantum shift towards the home final arrangements we eventually have now.

Yes, it took that game, plus it happening to us again in 99, Adelaide in 02 and Brisbane in 04 for it to change. And they call us slow :D

On the 96 QF, I actually rewatched that the other week (I was 9 at the time so my memory is a bit hazy). What a star Cousins was. In the first quarter of his first final in his first season of football, 3 awesome goals when the heat was on! Brilliant!

Also, both Cousins and Morrison started in the forward line, whilst Heady was on the bench. Mick certainly put the faith in the young players at times. Couldn't see that happening now...

I sat on the southern wing and the highlight of that match - was 3 strippers jumping on field and circling drew banfield at the start of the 3rd quarter

As an 18 year old - admiring 3 perfect racks was extremely memorable

Ahhh totally forgot about that. Back in the days when streaking wasn't such a massive deal.

Not going to name 4 but more so some memorable ones.

Individual:
Naitanuis 15 minutes against Hawks in '09. That was probably the last time a first year player did anything outrageously remarkable for us.
Nic Nat again after the siren against North
JK's first bag of 10 against the Dogs in 2011 was special.
Cousins 200th when he was vomiting in the first quarter and kicked a 4
Judds home games against whoever

Team:
Sampis goal to draw
Carlton comeback kings
2015 QF
2006 EF, just had that feeling after the game of invincibility

Late entry.

1986 or 1987 State of Origin Game when we won by 3pts - with a Wayne Blackwell smother of a Vic kick at goal to save the game.

Wooshas return from acl - vs st kilda when some st kilda "hard man" went to bump him as he jogged on and just bounced off pathetically - woosha just kept jogging like he didnt notice - crowd lols

Talking of Woosha, that bump on Dermie must also be up there...

Would give anything to be in that crowd right in front of the incident at the time.

I've been going to Subi off and on since 1997 and the best game bar none was the 2015 QF against the Hawks. The team and crowd were up and about taht day.

We are a shadow of a team that played that day.

Good riddance to Subi though, what a shit hole of a stadium.

That was the peak form game for too many players. Long time since the team has that work rate and pressure. I blame the change in guernsey, it's the only real change in two years.

For me the total dominance of Peter Matera in 1992 and Chris Judd in early 2006 will be the memory I take from the ground.
