hey guys just wondering if you have heard the news about byron pickett he has been suspended from the demons for not attending the weekends game. would like to know your thoughts about it? it is on the afl website!!

AFL: Pickett suspended for one game by Demons AFL Demons
MELBOURNE, May 15 AAP - Melbourne have imposed a one-game suspension on Byron Pickett after he failed to attend the club's AFL game against the Western Bulldogs last Sunday.
Pickett was an emergency for the game against the Bulldogs, but has admitted to Melbourne he drank alcohol the night before the game.
He has been ruled out of selection for both Melbourne and their VFL affiliate Sandringham this weekend, and has been told he will not be considered for senior selection for the next four weeks.
``The football department, in consultation with the senior leadership group, have requested Byron to consider his future during this week,'' Melbourne said in a statement.
``If Byron decides to continue his future with the Melbourne Football Club, he will be required to play with Sandringham Football Club for at least four weeks, and will not be considered for AFL selection in that time period.
``Byron fully understands and accepts this disciplinary action.
``The club believes that a fit and committed Byron Pickett is an important component of our team, and hope that he can apply himself to get back to his best form in the weeks ahead, should he decide to continue his AFL career.''
Pickett, 29, is a veteran of 198 games and was a premiership player with the Kangaroos and Port Adelaide before he joined the Demons.
Melbourne are yet to win a game this season and play reigning premier West Coast at Subiaco Oval in round eight.

I believe he signed a two year deal so yeh this would be his last year of that contract, he'd need to turn things around pretty sharply if he wants to be here next year.

For what its worth, I think he will come back pretty well.

This is a perfect situation I think, Pickett is clearly behind Yze, Sylvia, Bate for a spot on the HFF and not fit enough for the midfield, four weeks in the vfl should be just about right.

Btw, I saw chris Johnson and his girlfriend leaving at three quarter time, surely he should get a week off for a soft effort, he ended up missing the best bit of the game.

I would consider byron at most times the missing link in melbourne playing great footy ... and given their 0-7 sitatuion i think he should be ashamed for his actions when his team needs him at this crucial time & game.
