Did anyone see Jesse W Smith (son of ex Roo Ross) play at Calder this year? I s he a future father/son player for the Roos?

he played quite consistent footy over a number of games, very good prospect i think with his height and athleticism the roos would be stupid not to pick him up next yr

cheers

No one should rule off all the contributors down in calders backline this year they were terrific, and for them not to get any recognition for all there efforts would be shocking. Players like hartigan, silvester, douglas, davis, etc should all be a chance for the draft if all the recruiters are on the ball. What do you guys reckon honestly??
Good point, but I think you might be right and their contributions will go unrecognised by AFL clubs. To only concede 904 points against in the year is a remarkable effort.

Robert Douglas was probably beaten for the only time this year in the first week of the finals by Ben Cosgriff early in the game.

Jarrod Silvester was hardly beaten all year and put in some good performances on some half forwards who have a good reputation at TAC Cup level. Efforts like his semi final game on Daniel McConnell were very good.

Brent Hartigan put in two outstanding performances on the competition's fastest forward Luke Herrington, but in a lot of other games during the year also shut down good opponents and at the same time he was always running hard off the back flank to finish the year with an average of 19 possessions.

Ronnie Davis I already wrote about in another thread. He played 5 games in 2002 for Calder as a 16 year old and was only bottom age this year so he might need to be patient and wait another year where he can get into the midfield and show what he can do there in the TAC Cup.

I'd like to see a club give Roberto Castello a go on a rookie list for 12 months. Like Bomber12 said he is a bit short but there is a lot of things to like about the way he plays especially getting in and under and hard working. He's played everywhere at Calder from forward goalsneak to a defender and had an average of about 18 possessions during the year.
