If I was GWS I'd be going for less of what I'd call second tier players and and more for the top end guys. GC could do with Ablett and 1 or two other real stars. Focus more on cherry picking the best of the mature age guys floating about the various leagues.

This year that would give you a Curnow, Richardson, Duigan, Pedderson, Mzungu, Krackour, Callinan and so on....on top of Harris and Stanley. So that makes them competitive while their draft picks develop.

So if they go after and get say a Ward or a Wood, they then can't get anyone from us next year including guys like Griffen.

So I think if they have learned anything from the Gold Coast, it's that perhaps they need more top end and less second tier. I don't reckon they will be interested in Wood or Ward. They would want Cooney or Griffen.

Lets be honest, GC dont give a faaaark about winning games this year....within reason of course. They purposefully stayed away from the VFL guys and the mid-tier AFL guys to build for a premiership and sustained success, rather than just trying to be competitive in years 1 & 2. In my opinion, theyre going the right way about it. Would hate to be a Suns supporter for the next 2 years, but lookout thereafter.

Have a feeling GWS will need a shorter term view. I live in Sydney and nooooooo one in Western Sydney gives a bugger about AFL. If they get belted in the first few years, the whole venture is in danger in my opinion.

So I think a mega meathead (meant to be a compliment) like the Ward Kiddie (long live the nickname) who can rip and tear in the hardball stakes from day 1 would be ideal for GWS.

Having said that, I LOVE the Ward Kiddie and would be devastated if he left. Definitely a future captain of the club.

Two weeks in a row taken high hard hits, two weeks in a row he has got up and just kept on going. Tough as nails. Love it.

Polkinghorne should have gone but was a little lucky imo, surely brown will have to go for his blatant hit. Made me sick listening to the commentators trying to justify browns actions. Dogs act.

Is Ward becoming a target? Is it his hard game that makes him cop these hits, is he getting lippy and the opposition biting or are they going after him because they think he is a danger....or am I just on a random conspiracy theory?

Fantasia to wards agent: ok, let's do a deal
Agent: cal wants to put negotiations off until the end of the year.
Fantasia: he can want that all he likes, but we want it done in the next 4 weeks. If it's not, the offer will be withdrawn and never tabled again.
Agent: but he just wants to concentrate on his footy
Fantasia: that's why he employs you. Here's the offer. Come back to me in the next 28 days, otherwise we're moving on and spending our cap space elsewhere. Simple.

No bluffs, no tactics, no cat and mouse. Get to the bottom of it ASAP. He's either in or out.

I'm with you there. It would be good if they could get it done early and then concentrate on getting Wood's signature as well
