Calling Peejay,

As moderator for our board and loyal Tiger man, I would like to hear some of your opinions on the following issues:

Did you expect this year to be like this?
What do you really think about our drafting?
Are we being duped by Wallace and his spin?
Who are responsible for our current situation?
If Wallace had only a 3 year deal, would he be coaching next year?
Should we keep Richo?
Who should be traded?
Which players are you most disappointed in?

please give us your insights on these matters.

Well my answers to most of these questions are spread throughout other threads on this board - however to make it easy for you here are my thoughts.

just remember I am only a person with an opinion, just like you.

1) Obviously not , but you know something suprisingly i am not as shattered as some on here are. I actually have enjoyed this year just as much as last year. Well at least up until today - the margin worried me as we seemed to get lost in the last quarter. Am i just getting immune to pain - who knows but i think its not as bad as we all think. If essendon can claim to be the best 2nd last team in history, maybe we can be the best last team in history - all depends on the last 8 games.

2) I think we have done a backflip since Wallace's first year. Much has been said about Meyer, but i think apart from lids - who is a given I think the others have been ok. I am a big wrap for Patto and it will be at least two more years before he shows us his best. We miss Polo - i just don't mean in the last few games - he obviously was playing injured and without Cogs we just could not afford that in the middle.

3) That is a personal opinion - are you being duped? maybe so it depends what you are hearing. Personally i am not. I was not doing cartwheels when i heard we got him and I am not doing cartwheels now, but i am not calling for his head. We gave him 5 years so lets see where this journey leads too.

4) The players who are taking the field - the ones who cannot hit a target regularly: Tuck, Raines, Jackson, Brown (but i give him some credit for creating something out of nothing at times) Richo, Bowden, and others who are not showing sufficeient leadership.

5) No - but that is why he has 5 years.

6) yes but he will finish at the end of his current contract - end of next year, i am now absolutely convinced of this, hearing him talk at the Richmond night during the week even made me more aware of this - he has the look of "this game is passing me by" about him, his inability to come to grip with the hands in the backrule is testament to this. I reckon i might just about shed a tear in his last game but i am certain it will be round 22 next year. However i think it will do wonders for schulz and cleve.

7) We have nobody worth trading that we would consider let going. It also depends who is available. as much as i like Newman, he could be one that would get interest but would you trade him? The others are just not going to happen - I would trade Polak - we have built his currency up enormously this year - get a good midfielder for him and leave mcquane in the team for a season - he could come good. Hyde would be another - he has some currency and maybe we could get a high second round for him - but why from all reports the draft is poor this year.

8)Tuck,Howat, White, I don't rate Thursfield as high as some - i think h3e is okay but not good yet - yet alone great. Edwards is also overrated by some on here - he is ok but not great - at 18 he has a couple of years to develop.

We have been a bit stiff with injuries to Collins and casserly who will be good players for us. All in all its been the year from hell but all said and done we have the same % as the two teams above us who have won three more games that us.

I don't think wallace is coaching to save himself - he did that last year, this year he has tried to instill a game plan, its just that we don't have the skills for that plan.

Here's a question for you Peejay.
Why do you give so much time to an obvious Hawks troll?:thumbsd:

Well he did say "our board" so either he is a tiger or he is a liar. if he is a tiger i answer his questions.

If he is a liar then that's his loss.

I think they are both OK - it's because they are playin for us and appear to be a bit of light in the gloom makes many of us rate them higher than they should be at this point of their career.

its because they are both ok at this point in their career that makes many of us rate them. You see they differ from the usual formula, in that they are ok at this point in their career as opposed to being not ok still , but maybe they can come good, after the 100 game point in their career. ;)

Great response, Peejay.

Magic, sometimes one of BigFooty's biggest assets (its anonymity) can also be one of its biggest flaws. Anyone can say they're anyone in order to inflame or simply support stereotypes. We've just got to cop it while we're down because sure enough they'll go missing when we eventually achieve success.

get a life I've been following the Tigers since '79. I was lucky enough to be see 1980. we were unlucky in '82 and it's mainly been downhill since.

If I wasn't a Tiger supporter why would I bother being so frustrated about our plight?

so get off my back.
