Australian cricket needs about six first-class batsman fit and firing. He would want to make a great start to the 2026/27 SS season.

Cam green only just came back from a pretty serious back injury that needed surgery. He's taking his time because he has only one kidney.
People who are complaining about how bad the situation is don't realise the struggle is due to his one functioning kidney.

looking at the new contracts, you can probably lock in green at number 5 for the bangladesh series.

it's important he kicks on, gets on the SA tour and his entrenched in the XI for the summer.

we are well equipped with wicketkeepers, spinners and quicks - we are really looking for out and out bats that can average 40+.

we currently have 7 on the first class scene averaging over 40, with 4 of them in the test team (smith, green, labuschagne, head) - the other 3 are connolly, handscomb and harris.

Not good when a seasoned Test cricketer can't hit it off the square and RR have a 15 year old creaming the best bowler in the world around lol

I read an article in The Australian last week by a journo (cant recall his name) who went to town on Green.

He didn't miss him.....

Unfortunately I have tossed the Oz out and the online article is paywalled. Not sure if anyone else can bring it up.

Did I read correctly that is Cricket Australia that stipulate just when & how many overs Green is allowed to bowl whilst at KKR?

Rahane, as Captain was asked when Green would be bowling again and he simply said 'ask Cricket Australia'.

he might be under a bowling management plan...

concerning when he can't even perform in the IPL
Pretty sure he has in the past.....or why would a team bid as much as they have for him? Just not getting passed go in this IPL.....which could be a blessing.....playing IPL ain't going to improve his game, only his bank balance....sadly his confidence is shot.....it's a social media feeding frenzy for all the wanna be vultures....

I still think he should come out and say I'm a batsmen and give up the pies

A batting average of 36 in a T20 match ain't that bad......seen far worse averages TBH....T20 is such a flakey format....so many 'guns' who are bog average when the ball turns red, and their techniques / temperaments are tested. I for one hope Green accepts the fact that T20 ain't his format....but geez with the amount of coin being thrown around, can't blame him for saying yes.

Green was in Cricinfo's team of the year in his first season. Averaging 50 while going at 160+ and in the top ten runscorers was a hell of a season. Even his second season was pretty good. Top 20 in runs, averaged 32, that's a decent year in anyone's book.

He's having an absolute stinker this season - not just the IPL, he also shouldn't have been in the test side - but let's not re-write history here.

20/20 is so hit and miss, so i'm not that concerned there.

not many instances in a game where a batsman scores 30+.

green's average in 20/20 is more than respectable.

it's his form in the test arena is where we need to see consistency and stellar performances.
