Read off the WC forum at the official site that we "may" be able to take Campbell Brown under the father son rule at pick #38. If so, who was his dad and how does the father son work?

His profile off the AFL website:

Midfielder/defender and a fierce competitor who wins contested balls. Strong tackler and good in tight games. Son of former Richmond player Mal.

Is the father son thing true and if it is, should we pick him up?

Well, if he's anything like his Dad, he'd be useful in the punch-ups........but the game's changed a bit since Mal was around.

Fortunately I am only old enough to remember Mal Brown as a coach and an "expert" comments man. Especially the East v South Freo final when he got involved in a punchup with one of the Easts players in the huddle!

As for young Campbell, I've no idea.

Thanks for that news, I suppose the Eagles may be interested in him but it will depend on which players are still available in the draft. Has he been named as a top draft choice and was he at the draft camp.

Bring him on!

Just on his Dad's reputation. I have some video footage where big Mal dealt with about 3 or 4 Carlton players in an East Perth v Carlton match. You could see one of the Carlton players spitting his teeth out. Pretty handy that Mal Brown.

If he is a considered a top draft pick and we don't have to grab him until #38, then it sounds like a wise choice.

His dad is Mal Brown, a fairly famous name in WA football. I dont know anything about his son, and I hope the club don't pick him up, purely on reputation and name recognition from his father. Would he also qualify to be picked up under the father/son rule for Richmond?

How many games does a player need to play for their son to be eligible under the father-son rule.

I thought Mal only played somewhere between 6 and 12 games for the Tigers.
