Just wanting everyones opinion about whether they think we can actually beat the swans or not this week. They are our bogey side at the moment and it would have to be a real performance to win, after our insipid performance against Richmond surely we come fired up.

I think the Cats can definitely beat Sydney. The round 20 game was closer than the final score suggested and there's a reason why Geelong finished top 2 again this year. The Cats are typically poor coming off the bye and looked out of sorts on Friday night, but as mentioned earlier they're 12-0 second up after a bye. Expecting a better showing this week.

Sydney have benefited from team stability with few injuries and our form looks good. But if Geelong can prevent the Swans jumping out to an early lead then I think they'll be right in this game. The key to beating Sydney is slowing down the ball and maximising uncontested possessions, which isn't your normal game plan but I'd be surprised if Scott didn't try it this week.

I have no doubt we will come out with the right attitude, the right pressure.

But we will need to sustain it for 4 quarters to win. We've done it before - the Bulldogs, Crows and GWS wins this year were build on relentless pressure. However if we slack off for even 15 minutes, the Swans have the capabilities to slot 5 goals and break the game open.

Injuries have cruelled the Cats

I live in the real world- i watched the Swans final - in particular their 2nd qtr - and also they have won 15 of their last 17 - with only 2 narrow defeats - dont forget that

This will be over by the the 20 minute of the 1st qtr - blokes like Heeney Gary Rohan Mills are going to have a field day - quick and strong - god help Geelong

Depending how wet it is - if the conditions are ok - they will win by close to 100 - if the conditions are bad - they will cruise to a 40-50 pt win ( conserving themselves for Adelaide ) after being 4-5 goals up at qtr time

Yep we can and we will.

And then we will smash Adelaide.

I am adamant that the winner of our semi-final will beat the Crows.

If we somehow get over the line against Sydney, I think we will ride that confidence all the way to the GF.

In a fairy tale world this would happen, then we would meet Richmond again in a GF, then we would tear them a new one.

But this aint no fairy tale world no..

Phew, I don't have to shell out for a ticket now.
Thanks man.

Hmm not sure, if only there was a thread which previewed the game against Sydney, where people discuss possible changes to our side, things for the coaches to work on, etc ;) :p

Don't think I've felt this flat leading into a final for a long time. Yes Richmond broke our hoodoo but Richmond also played the game at their home ground, had a healthy list to choose from and were in ok recent form. We play the Swans at a neutral venue, have a number of injuries, aren't in great form (it was only 3 games ago we struggled to beat a depleted Collingwood at this very venue).

But to end on a positive note the bookies are giving us the same odds they gave Fremantle to beat us in the 2013 QF and we all know what happened that game.

Nope no way, looking at their team on paper compared to ours we are screwed. If Danger 50 and 8's and Hawkins kicks 12 then maybe. But seriously I don't think the Cats are anywhere near Sydney.
