Nup i dont have a chip on my shoulder, why would i against Hawks? We are better than you...

For Geelong...well there is a side that is actually better than us,

haha, keep dreaming. anyone who understands the game of football could tell we had a horrible night in that final, and to think despite us playing one of our worst games of the season, you only just shook us off in the end.

The Geelong and Port Adelaide Finals gave the real indication of how good the roos are.

The way the kangaroos destroyed you in that final, and the way you JUST got over the line by a pretty sick Adelaide in Melbourne your not as good as you think.

Some of your young guys will fall away next year watch. Franklin!:p
You wish PasionateRoo im in Noosa mate you can drop in on the way to Gold Coast

Hard to say...a lot depends on the draw, injuries and how our kids step up?

We'll replace:
Vanders - McGlynn
Smith - Ellis
Dixon - Thorp/Dowler

And we still have Tuck, Muston, Moss, Kennedy, Renouf, Bailey, Dawson and Murphy ready to go.

Best thing is we've got quality depth :thumbsu:

I think that Williams will replace Dixon, they have similar styles except that Williams has about 3 times the talent! no disrespect to Dixon i loved watching him play

The Roos far from destroyed the Hawks! for starters it took 3.5 quarters for roos to kick clear. The game was close to one of the worst games for the year, neither team could use the ball efficiently, the Hawks being the worst on the day. We stupidly bought 3 player into the match that where still injured from the Adelaide match, (Bateman, Brown and Hodge) can't do that in the normal season let alone finals.

As for our young players falling away next year, some might but we have plenty of youth still to test (Tuck, Kennedy, Muston, Thorp, Dowler, Bailey, Murphy, Ellis). Just wondering what youth have the roos got to come in? But if any team is likely to slide it will be the Roos, they had a great season but they over achieved!!!!!

Can? - Yes.
Will? - Not sure. If young players continue improvement and we are not adversely effected by injuries and suspensions then a definite possibility.

only if you can convice simon crawshay out of retirement and pick him up in the PSD to help your ruck division:thumbsu:

You think Kruezer is gunna be a walk up AFL star? Ha ha. You guys need to worry about your rucking division more than us. Let's see how well Judd goes without the inside mids like Kerr and the ruck delivery of Cox.

Not sure.

We looked good this year, but a few things went right for us and not sure if we over-achieved a little, or if we just happened to have a development of a lot of players at once, and a lot of significant improvements at once.

McGlynn, Boyle, Gilham, Sewell, Brown, Franklin, Roughead, Lewis, Taylor, Ladson, Birchall, Young and Guerra's form suggest to me it was the latter, and that we improved massively as a team because of so many individuals working on their game. Mark Williams from Port Adelaide said Clarkson's greatest assett is getting the best out of a player, and teaching the player to become better, I think we are seeing that with our squad.

You would think with the age of our side and the natural development of our list that we have every chance of improving again. Especially in our forward line. Franklin and Roughead had very important break-out years and enter 2008 knowing they can win games themselves, which is vital for us as a side moving forward because they wont be talented youngsters anymore who show signs, but can be the vital cogs in our side. Add Williams, Boyle, Thorp and suddenly we have an array of options.

Only issue would be that we were light on with experience already, and we've lost our captain (Vanders) who was a great leader. We've lost Smith who added experience, leadership, and a player who could play defense or midfield. Dixon was our most experienced forward as well, so that's three of the guys who have been around the longest except for Crawf... gone and we're really young again.

My best 22 at this stage is

Brown.......Gilham.........Guerra

Ladson......Croad..........Birchall

Bateman....Hodge..........Young

Osborne....Roughead.....Crawford

Williams......Franklin.......Lewis

Foll: Campbell, Mitchell, Sewell

Int: Taylor, Ellis, Thorp, Boyle

That leaves us depth players of McGlynn, Jacobs, Clarke, Murphy, Dawson, Tuck, Muston, Bailey, Renouf, McEntee, Dowler, Moss, Morton, Kennedy.

Not a bad list, some options to cover rucks, midfield, and defense, as well as even having a key position pick 6 on the sidelines in Dowler. Its pretty raw but a lot are entering their third or fourth seasons.

I think its in pretty shape, but 2009 definately seems to be a year when we'll start peaking for several years, and our depth will become very strong.

Keeping in mind we still have an upcoming draft, and pick 12 to use, plus PSD draft we are in good shape and probably make the right call not to trade for any players. Lots of clubs make the mistake of throwing away draft picks when they have young talent already (hello St Kilda) and it costs them down the track if things don't go as expected. I was happy enough to trade for talent using our selections, but not to throw them away if they were only ok players.

Should be in good shape and expect the same sorts of results as 2007, and be looking to finish anywhere from 3-8
