after losing a game we perhaps we should have won then a sublime showdown performance where we had multiple forwards kick multiple large bags of goals I have a question

If things don't necessarily go our way in a game - can we win ugly

If we can then we perhaps have something huge brewing with this team

If we don't transition the ball with such speed and precision with things on our terms do we have the capability to slow the oppo down and squeeze out an ugly win - ie grind out 4 points and move on to a better performance the week after

If so then we may have a very successful season and era on our hands

It's a great question because finals footy is invariably "ugly". The game against Port has probably given us fans a false sense of security - it was a great win but it was essentially a training drill. Port let us do as we pleased.

We have to accept that there are many better teams than port in the comp. They will have better ways of combating the game plan we showed on Saturday. Our task is to replicate "ugly" conditions at training as much as we can.

NAB Gold Coast game is an example of an ugly win, so I think yes we do and we already did slow the tempo and get control back against Port on the weekend.

JUST CHILL MAN!

Theyre a young team, with a difficult start to the year.

First they had to get a win - tick

Now they need to play a bit of good footy and build confidence in themselves. They need to duke it out with some other teams playing well or beat soundly teams that aren't to give themselves a bit of belief.

Then once that's been up and going for a few weeks, and it may be done in 3 weeks time or not until 3/4 thru the season, then we can be a bit more demanding.

Great point re GC Nikki !!! Can we do it in season ? Hope so . If we can do it against a good side my confidence will go sky high

It's not a negative question, it's a positive one

If we can then look out !!

Brilliant post! I have had exactly the same question circulating in my head since Saturday. Whether the answer is yes or no will determine our season.

We can't allow teams like Geelong and Hawthorn to have 70 inside 50s. Gunstan will have 12 by half time!

That match against brisbane last year. PW last game.

We played really bad. Would have lost in years gone by. Won it, somehow. I think we're capable. Being able to play well when you're in control is one thing, but arresting control is another.

We should have beaten North when we were 20 points up, only let them back in with stupid hits off the ball and 50m penalties. Have to win this week to make up for it.
ultimately we just have to hope that was the learning experience the group had to have and we'll keep our cool next time.

Yes, I think so.
