Well there was not alot we could really do. If he didn't want to play for the club we had to let him go, albeit for nothing! He will be an excellent player for the Dons for a couple of years with the hard-at-the-ball players you mentioned. I will be angry if he tastes any success with them!
I'm always interested to read what supporters have to say when a favourite son leaves their club for another club. Campo didn't leave Carlton for more money - he is getting paid at Essendon HALF of what he was being paid at Princes Park.
He have you great service - and the nasty comments about his departure do you no credit.
However, the fact you Blue-baggers SHOULD be mad about is that your football department let such a good player go for NOTHING, and that is inexcusable, imo. It's the Port Adelaide dummy spit all over again.
If a bloke doesn't want to play for you (for whatever the reason) and you can't change his mind, then look for the best deal you can get.
Essendon had to do that with Paul Salmon a few years back when they couldn't get him to stay. We finished up with 2 good players for the loss of one, and had good service out of both plus they played in a premiership side.
Once a player is out of contract he can please himself where he plays.

He's basically done nothing on field for 2 years on-field, and this after the inclusions of Stevens and Scotland etc.

Off-field, he would have to be the one the greediest players ever to wear the Navy Blue. He was paid way over what he was worth and when the club puts its foot down, he pis#es and whinges like a little school girl.

As for being a premiership player, that's all well and good, but really, anyone could have walked into that team and been a premiership player. He was just fortunate he was picked up by the club in the '94 draft. He never went through the hard years of the late '80's to early '90's like Sticks, Braddles, SOS, and Deany to name but a few.

In short, i'm glad to see the back of him and geez I hope someone lays a massive hip and shoulder on him next year and knocks the little sh#t into 2007..!!

The fact we did let him go for nothing shows that either the Bombers were offering duds in exchange, he's expendable and we didn't think we was worth redrafting in the PSD ahead of Mclaren on less money.

Some of your supporters aren't too happy with drafting Heffernan Heffernan a Bomber again - so ******** and even have the temerity to compare Campo's style to Bradley's.

You guys really need to get out in the real world and stop believing what you read in cyberspace by a select few.
We should believe what you the tripper- boy says then right?

If he isnt a cancer why did he leave for money???

He did say he wanted to be a one club player during the season did he not?
He didnt leave for the money last year when we have him over 600k.

I wou;d have believed him if he had walked last season.....(that its not for the $$$$$$$)

The guy is a cancer....
And for the Essendon supporters who think were crying over sour grapes..
Take a look in TC what we have thought about his football, his character and his leadership over the last 2 years.

He wasnt worth a player in trade.,

He is a pathetic little weed who has had it all handed to him on a platter.

The sooner he was out the better.

Youll know what we mean by round 12.

Personally I was shattered that he left... I know he was a money whinging priek, but still he played in a premiership in the Navy Blue and he was a leader.

However after seeing his pretty little face smiling and happy at Essendon, I'm furious, but glad he has piessed off.

I want to see him hurt, hurt physically and hurt mentally when Carlton make the finals in the next few years and he is playing out his career on the bottom of the ladder.

I'm really looking forward to Carlton playing Essendon... and Campo lining up.
If Campo's behaviour at Carlton was anything slightly resemblant of leadership, you can shoot me dead ... the bloke was one of the most selfish, weak veteran players we have had for quite awhile.

Soft winger with nice skills who only played to make himself look good and who made skirting a contest an artform yes .... leader? couldn't be further from the case.

Better players than Campo have left Carlton, so let him have his money and look forward to giving it to him in round 7

I'd like Campo to kick just a point from long range just after the siren next time we play you filth. That'll make the margin an even 100. Really spewing about not cracking the ton last game against you sad lot.

And in all my time I've never read anything more hysterical than one of you ugly lot suggesting it will be great when Campo finishes his career down the bottom of the ladder and Carlton are in the finals. hahahahaha.

You're 'avin' a laugh!

Welcome aboard Scott, to the greatest club there is - the pre-eminent Victorian club - the Essendon Football Club.

Delusional. Camporeale and Heffernan. To go with Zantuck, Cupido last year. Allan, Alvey and Murphy the year before.

Hilarious. Sheedy has taken a good list and is running it into the ground.

Kick a point, thats about all hes good at, and we are on the rise, by taking players like cancereale you are not going to improve, look how well murphy and allan worked out for you, carlton have never given essendon a player worth anything, where essendon has given us madden and McGrath to name a few, and with your senile coach you still wont be going anywhere.

You dillusion twitt, at least we have an excuse for not keeping a decent list together. Appointing a deranged old man for another term as his mind floats in between ours and a far away universe taking you ********ers on a ride to oblivion is just beutiful to watch. We will slowly start to climb and you will plummet adding players of Campo's fabric to your sidewill only speed up your decent. I'll enjoy watching your new sheep dog as much as i enjoy laughing at that ******* Hennaman try to play a resemblance of a game we call football.

Scotty has always been a fav of mine but it has been hard to watch his lack lustre attitude on the field over the past few years... Hate to see him in the bombers jumper but feel that it was a good move by the club to not give into his demands. Wish "modern" players of today showed as much loyalty to the club as some of our past greats like SOS and Sticks...

Too true. Brisbane and more recently, St Kilda players have taken pay-cuts so they can remain as a team. They are in it for each other, not just themselves. We need this attitude at Carlton.

Sorry - but wasn't SOS asking for too much money one of the reasons why you had problems with the salary cap?
Great loyalty!!!!

If you want to express loyalty to a club then you should be using Chris Grant as the example!

Good to know that you dont know what youre talking about.
Sure SOS was offered money under the table...(which he never received mind you).. but he was paid bugger all inside and outside the cap because he was loyal.
As a matter of fact he would have received much less than Grant and was afar better player...

At the end of the day, Campo is a receiver and only suited to playing in a strong team making a tilt at the flag. Essendon in 2006 does not fit the bill. It is as simple as that. You lose!
