Captaincy/ leaders

Well Mick says he is building an era; and Bucks says he may step down as captain this year or next (no rush, Bucks). Who is being groomed for the medium term leadership at least?

Too early for Fraser, who doesn't seem to have found his best position on the field yet?

What about our attacking general from the back, James Clement? Maybe for a couple or few years till the next generation-charge solidifies. Courage, dash, big/small, injured or fit he's on the park. He is just damn inspiring. If Clement at 28 or so isn't way up there in our leadership group next year, I'd imagine there'd be a queue a mile long at Lexus centre asking for a "please explain" from our "era builders".

If Fraser gets the captaincy after Bucks I'll throw up.

Clement's so far above anyone else it's not funny. I'd even prefer short-term reigns by Licuria, Burns etc ahead of Fraser.

Anthony Rocca still has a few years left in him, and he could captain us, and between next year and when Anthony steps down, you never know who might have presented for captaincy.

If Buckley had to retire completely today Burns would be my clear choice. If both went it would be Clement or Ant. After that there is a void. Fraser isn't strong enough, Tarrant isn't responsible enough. Licuria is the only other viable candidate. Long term the candidates might be Cam "The Wrecker" Cloke based on my liking for a smash up derby skipper to lead from the front with a forearm jolt or Brayden Shaw based on reports as a junior. There is a heck of a lot of water to flow under the bridge before that could even be contemplated though. I do like the idea of Cam "The Wrecker" Cloke - Collingwood Captain, CHF, Head Crusher and Stunt Man.

Hes our most talented, hes big now, has physical presence, can have a big influence on games, hes not soft like fraser but he gets into some scrapes now and then which i dont think is any big deal, hes marketable and his teammates love him and look up to him.

Hes an excitement machine although a poor media performer.

At 23/24 hes coming into his prime playing days and with a move to chf next year i think hes capataincy matierial.

A leadership role might be good for Tazza, it might give him the motivation to tone down his extra curricular activities a little.

I don't think Tarrant would take too well to the whole PR, media thing. Just doesn't seem to be his go

You never know, it could be the making of him.

Maybe Taz could just be a leader within the club and take on some extra responsibility and leave the PR stuff to the rest of the leadership group.

After we lost that GF because we had no Rocca stand-tall replacement, we seem now to be brimming with them - Fraser, CCloke, Davidson, WMorrison, TCloke etc - why land Tarrant in that.

I didnt say pension rocca off, we could move him to the goal square and let tazz run wild at chf.

Before the injuries Lockyer would have been close to the top of the list of prospective captains, but now he's probably slipped down a couple of notches.

In terms of inspiration and a real team lifter, the only option is Pebs. After that Clement and Burnsy. Although for Burns to captain he'll have to learn to speak.

Licuria wouldn't be that short term. He is only 25/26 if I'm correct. He can handle the media but is not a big enough name IMO.
Tarrant was deputy vice captain with Josh Fraser in one game last year due to injuries.
Apparently Nick Maxwell is now part of the young leadership group.
