I'm not sure of his first name, but can some one tell us a bit about Wayne Carey's nephew who was running around in the VFL.

What sort of chance is he of being picked up in the draft/pre season?

Kade Carey....big lump of a lad....I'd say highly unlikely that he'd be picked up, but a good sign was that he was named in the best 6 for Geelong in the VFL bar 2 or 3 games since he started with us....he presents well, takes a great grab, but would need to work on fitness..

Pretty sure he's a bit too old compared to most draftees (23-24????).

Also heard he's a bit of a tosser but I can't confirm that. Was involved in that Dane Swan court case a while ago for some fight with bouncers.

Probably not worth it.

at 22-23-24 he would be just a touch old, and i think everyone has heard that he has a touch of im so good about him

I'm not to sure, but given Matt Firmans form then I think we will go close to earning a spot.

Firman was the one I thought of when you suggested it.I doubt Cheep will be rookied [age,similar type of players we already have]

Yep. Firman would be the front runner for sure. Has also spent time on an AFL list. Was close to getting a game but did his hammy in the last training session of the week from memory.

While I have no doubt that if drafted he would be released but Cheep has signed with Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL. This suggests he himself might not be confident of getting picked up.

Obviously, he would have something written into his contract that would allow him to break it if picked up but at his age and career I'll assume he is now planning on cashing in across the border.

Cheep's too old now and won't be picked up.

He was a gun at under 18 level for Calder and just missed out being drafted.

Was injured for his first two seasons of senior footy with osteitis and the like before finally getting a good run at Geelong VFL starting in 2005..

Played awesome footy in 2006 but missed out on the VFL grand final because of players like Nick Batchelor and Matt McCarthy coming back from injury...

However, Firman is a genuine chance. Given his age, this would probably be his last year to be in contention... Potter is a real smokey. Played very good footy this year as a key forward in a side that lacked consistent supply.

Kade Carey would be worth a punt as a mature rookie for any club, there's no doubt about that.

Kade Carey will be a great VFL, WAFL or SANFL player, but his shot at AFL has passed.

The VFL games I've been to this year showed me that he doesn't have much of a defensive game and once the ball hit the deck he didn't show much skill in going for it or chasing it.

Big Lad and Great hands though.
