Yep, it is a media beat up. Sure we would love Houston if it were a viable option. It has never been a viable option and Austin will not lose any sleep with the mischievous crap being spruiked in the media in search of clicks.

Little doubt we are Houston’s preference. Little doubt Voss would love him in the side as would his mate Silvagni. Port May reckon they can squeeze out two first rounders, but we want at very least one quality selection in the draft. We can not consider the possibilities of a trade on draft capital, as well as the massive impact on our salary cap.

We cant keep everyone. How are we going to progress and evolve by not making changes to the list ?

This is the issue, we are not ruthless enough with our players. Fancy keeping Marchbank, Martin and Cunningham all those years and having hardly any output from them.

You all love the nice guys. We are not a kindergarten. Problem is we broadcast who we dont want to keep, so other clubs want to get them for nothing.

If we dont trade Owies, unfortunately we delist him. Same goes with Caroll. We need the list spaces.

Harsh as it sounds. Owies is not a pressure forward. We have same same smalls already who are younger.

Let’s see what Austin does. Is he shrewd enough? Does he has a good rapport? Use these boys as steak knives if you have too.

Sick of having the same same everyyear with the same issues. And not going deep into finals.

I want team success. No more player sentiment. They are either finals tough players or they are not. That’s it !!

All have shown they can play at the highest level....

unless they form part of a bigger deal - to help that get done - or unless you can achieve a clear upgrade on them, you keep them!

Carroll the most marginal imo.

Young - can play KPD and ruck. He's 202cm, they don't grow on trees....

But yes coaching is a massive concern which won't get corrected this year.

"Some attributes, can mark and seemed to have been given license to kick into the corridor (which I hardly ever saw work) and I'd reference to good endurance but never in top distance covered even from the wing. Overall his best is ok, his average isn't great and his bad is terrible. "

Still on the list but is uncontracted. .

With Nick Haynes’ arrival, Durdin’s future will probably depend on whether Lewis Young finds another club or not. Young is still contracted for another 2 years but don’t think there’s been a lot of interest in him?

Yes, and M.Carroll, for now as the rookies. Not re-contracted yet. Think both may need to make way.

M.Carroll should be a VFL project, unless showing absolute jet material behind the scenes. I know we like to give players development time but tough decisions are needed.

If we believe what we read, it appears that Owies may have effectively moved himself off the list if he's priced himself out of the market, when players like Durds and Orazio have most likely accepted baseline offers.

It seems to be more damning on Owies' player manager than on Austin.

Problem is we broadcast who we dont want to keep, so other clubs want to get them for nothing.

This has been an issue for years. We constantly do this and it drives me nuts. We’ve now backed ourselves into a corner with Owies as teams know that our list spots are tight and if we can’t trade him we’ll probably have to let him go for nothing. Therefore, why would a team trade for him when they can get him for nothing. We absolutely have to get better in this space and we can’t keep leaking players for nothing.

When we brought in Fantasia on a 2 year deal I knew something had to give. That was poor management. Wasn’t against bringing him in but surely a 1 year deal would have sufficed. We still have a ways to go with improving our list management and you’d hope that Cook is casting a close eye over Austin.

Owies, Kennedy, Young been given the ok to "explore options."

Sounds like Kennedy attracting the most interest so far, maybe from clubs looking for a bargain. Reading into it, maybe he doesnt get a game next year with Walsh fit plus a possie outside type coming in? More value as a vacant list spot in that case, or as steak knives in a trade. I really like Kennedy, great attitude, but what I like the most is probably that he runs lines like Petracca, which he is not.

Owies kicks goals because he is smart, breaks early, kicks straight, and as his man abandons him for Charlie. Again great attitude, but he's a gaping whole defensively and is taking years off Charlie's career. Reading into things here, I guess theyre happy to pay him what he is worth and recontract, steak knife him, or wish him well for a vacancy. Either he or Kennedy could fill the same role/goals up forward I'd say, but hopefully as depth to a Moir.

Young, I mostly fear he will injure Weitering with his flailing limbs and dumb courage, or sell someone else into a shirt front with his geologically slow decision making / hospital passes. Despite myself, thought he performed better in backhalf of year. He isn't a depth player really, except as a pure lockdown defender on the bigger guys when Weitering is injured. Reading into this one, really hoping his For Sale sign means actual KPD cavalry are on the horizon.

Would love to see Orazio gone ahead of all of them, but cannot sell something that isnt worth anything to anyone. We have to sell or lose players in this bracket to get better, and I see it as a good sign.

Finally, "Being nice" at the trade table, as some are angry about, has its benefits too. Clubs will do business with us and players have trust. All three of the above are well positioned to keep working hard for us if they stay (all are hard workers too and good clubmen). On the other hand, Dodo drove a hard bargain and built a secondhand caryard of a list chock-full of John West rejects. SOS's hardass bargain buys didnt do us any good either. Nice and weak arent the same thing, same goes for miserly and pokerfaced.

The only silver lining is that SOS couldn’t draft a midfield prospect to save himself. I’m sure he will butcher it.

Absolutely agree , we’ve certainly found that out the hard way, Dow , LOB, SPS and few others.
