If you are referring to Ratten talking about curbing Lake, surely the early points went to Ratts?
Did you note that for the first time this year Lake STARTED at FF?

No he started FF against West Coast as well. To make Lake accountable you need a good lead up player who stays home in the 50 m arc and presents. You also need to honour those leads.

Correct. Which is where Hendo being on him would have worked well for us........excecpt that we couldn't put it out in front of the leading forwards, rather, just bomb it in on their heads.

Our mids played the perfect gmae for Lake. Some it was due to the Doggies pressure, but nowhere near enough of it. We were poor going I50 just as we have all year.

Can't wait for on the couch Monday, see what dumbo has to say.

Actually shame he wasn't on the Monday after we lose to West Coast.

It is clear Ratten and co have lossed the players, what is now to be done about this debacle will define what our club is!!

Has he lost the same players that Pagan lost? Players should not be determining who can coach them. If that is the case, then you will need to turn over your list & assemble a group of players who do not think they control the club.

Medium
The players are nearly following rattens orders.
He told them to lose by 60 points and we failed at that again....
The players have lost confidence due to ratten's poor leadership and game plan....simple as that I am afraid.

Can someone briefly explain our game plan to me? Forget the performance today, I would seriously like some clarification. From what I can tell it is to maintain possession at all costs and then when the pressure comes on try and take on your opponent. I have no idea what happens next. Going forward we look for a lead up option and if none coming kick long regardless of who is up there?
Please help me out here. Obviously frustrated but this is a genuine question I would like answered by my fellow supporters.

we are the only team in the AFL without a game plan...get the idiots out of the coaching box....all the coach can do after the game is sit and study his crap stats...well the only stat that I worry about is contested ball...Ratten get the F*** out of here

We are the only team in the competition without a game plan yet we sit above 8 of those teams on the ladder.

3 years ago we won 4 games for the season (mostly under Pagan's coaching), 2 years ago we won 10 games for the season, last year we won 13 games for the season & this year we have won 8 games. Would you have us believe we have won 31 games in the last 2 3/4 seasons without a game plan?

Were you one of the people who advocated the sacking of Pagan? How many more coaches do you think we should sack before we realise that our list is not as good as some supporters think it is?

We let go our leading goalkicker of the previous 7 seasons (due to his poor behaviour) & our most experienced midfielder retired. Was that going to make us a better team in the short term? A little bit of perspective wouldn't go astray.

We sit above 8 teams simply because of our talent, we would sit above alot more if we had a game plan.

The way things are travelling ordinary sides like the Kangroos and Swans will finish above us.

It is embarrassing that either of these two sides have gone past us.

Look, a bit of respect here. Of course criticize Ratten, but at the end of the day he is a club legend, so telling him to "get the F out of here" really shows a lack of respect. My view is this year was always going to be harder after lacking Fevola and not having an adequate key forward on our list. Maybe Ratten could have done more, maybe he couldn't. Maybe he should be replaced, maybe he shouldn't. But surely we can agree that if he is replaced, it shouldn't be with the words "Get the F out of here." He does his best, he works hard, give him that and some respect at least.

Our game plan explianed.

1. Allow the opposition to crowd the stopage thus negating our strength being Judd, Murphy and Gibbs

2. Allow the opposition to sit 1 or 2 players free across half back, thus making scoring difficult, also slowing our ball movement and enbaling them to launch attacks

3. Never ever ever play Waite out of the goal square

4. Only drop a spare man in our backhalf when we are atleast 6 goals down

5. Have the players regularly hold the ball up in the air late in quarters when we are 5 goals or more down ensuring we cannot catch up

Who is this Ratten?

What exactly does he do?

What exactly is he responsible for?

Cause its not his and the coaching staffs fault, players cant hit targets, players cant tackle, players have hearts the size of peas, players are generally inept.

Its the players I tell ya, ratten jus turns up for press conference.

Go easy on Ratten, has enough issues sorting out the match up board.

That is what i have trying to figure out, What is our game plan? The onus will come on Ratten this week and so it should he has been flying under the radar for too long. He should be given these questions and answer them!!

Im sick of it ... leave Ratten alone blah blah blah ... all the fence sitters on this forum can sit on it for as long as you like and keep giving this guy chances...he is no good and can't get this team up...he asked them to bring their mouthguards to training ... wow that really worked .... whats the secret ingredient this week ratts , mouthwash and your toothbrush !

Lose to WC this week and he is 100% gone even if we sneak into the 8.

Swan is to smart to allow a side to tread water if not go backwards, when we should be on the rise.

This all seems spot on from where I sit and I agree with your summary. Having read some other posts on this thread it seems there is some confusion from we the supporters as to what is actually trying to be achieved out there! I am happy to watch young teams stuff up due to inexperience. What I refuse to put up with is our team 1)NOT putting their head over the ball(very un ratten like) 2) NOT trying to change something when we're getting beaten and 3) seemingly show little or no passion.
Can anyone out there tell me who has that glint in their eye when they play for us?
You know the look, the one that says I am going to win that ball and there is nothing you can do about it. The look that says I am going to take this game and tear you a new one! Insipid performance today. Totally uninspiring and I can't help but feel that there is something very amiss down there.

Define "lossed (sic) the players".

As I pointed out on another thread, thank God it is all the coach's fault and the players bear no responsibility.

I mean, it's not as if they are collectively paid $6 million or so to represent the Carlton FC, is it?

Last years finals loss against Brisbane was enough to tell me Ratten is nothing more then a assistant coach. No offence to Ratts but he just hasn't got the quality or the experience and game plan to take Carlton anywhere near a Premiership. Rumours are abounding at West Coast that this will be Woosha's last season as coach. Woosha did his aprenticeship at Carlton and is a Premiership coach. He would be a suitable replacement for Ratten. He has the mental toughness required to take us all the way.

If thats the case we can bring Pagan back.
Had similar problems with the players.

So Ratten shouldnt even be coaching.

A COACH MUST KNOW how to DRILL , MOTIVATE, PREPARE and DISCIPLINE footballers....

Ratten is weak, being able to motivate yourself and motivate a group are 2 different things. I suspect there are a core of players who laugh at Ratten. Lets not even start on skills, what the hell do these guys do at training? Anyone know?

His performance at the presser was borderline disgusting, it looked like he had prepared all the excuses he would need to explain the loss.

In a crucial game, sydney went out with a game plan, and actually embraced the challenge that this game represented to their playing finals.

We on the other hand were insipid, leaderless, no structure, inefficient just disgusting..again.

And then to top it all off our hard as nails coach hits the presser with all his excuses having being prepared during the week, maybe he should have put more time into the game plan.
