Blayne O'Loughlin, the nephew of Sydney great Michael, was South Australia's best in that game and he will again be fronting up for this clash. Son of Brownlow medallist Shane Woewodin, Taj, has been selected for Western Australia along with the brother of Carlton star Patrick Cripps, Josh.

Nas Wanganeen-Milera (the nephew of Port Adelaide and Essendon champion Gavin) and Jesse Motlop (the son of former Kangaroo and Power forward Daniel) will line up for South Australia and Western Australia respectively.

Will be keen to see how Josh goes in the ruck, taller than Crippa already o_O

Yup Nick did seem adamant and we have plenty of young talent to gauge the future development potential to evaluate , some will be let go , given new regime and game plan.
HWM would be a great addition a skilled winger with a beautifully accurate kick. Wanganeen Milera is elite. Suppose he’ll end up a 1sr rounder.

Charlie McKay was very good for Sandringham this year. Hard and tough with a defensive mindset in the middle. Well worth a late pick and build our F&S stocks.

Toby Conway as a highly talented 205-206cm ruck and hard running hard tackling McKay would be good gets for us.

Right now, long term, I have Callaghan ahead of Horne Francis
The concern with Finn is he’ll turn out to be a Polec type, extremely talented footballer but questionable commitment to pressure or contested footy.
There are quires on whether he’d rather avoid clashes and boring in for his possession, it may be ill conceived , but nonetheless he has this reputation.
Irrespective can’t see him surpassing Jason Horne Francis in a football career.

In the same boat as Arrow with Callaghan. Overall for me its between Callaghan and Matt Johnson as the best long term, if Callaghan goes to GC forget about him. Daicos clear number 1 early on due to his professionalism but see him peaking early. That being said its going to be bloody hard watching Norf games purely to watch the highlights package of Horne, really detest that club.

We require a genuine wingman as much as any position. I wonder if that is seen as the position for Carrol or Philp. Pick 25 seems ideal for a hard running skilled winner to dropuality players
I get what you mean that we need to settle on some dedicated wingers, but do not agree that we need to recruit any. We have LOB, who despite his perceived shortcomings is a classic offensive wingman with his distribution skills. There are quite a few “soft” wingers who are staples in their teams. Soft is a perception, the ability to run upwards of 15km a game and present in both offence and defence is anything but soft. It is called gut running for a reason. His left boot is a weapon. For 2022 at least, we are oversubscribed for midfielders, so those with skills on the outside will rotate through wings. Cerra and Walsh in particular are weapons on the outside. Then we have the youngsters with midfield credentials who are good enough to play best 22, Brodie Kemp, Jack Carroll and Sam Philp are blessed with pace, skills and a hard edge, the perfect traits for a modern wingman. We have journeyman winger Jack Newnes, defensive flankers like Saad, Williams, Newman and Docherty who could be considered for the role. Then there are mid, come forward types Cuningham, Fisher, Martin or perhaps Fogarty who could transition there. Then there are mobile talls like Charlie, JSOS, or even McGovern who could play a hybrid role under the right circumstances.

Game plans and suitable positioning for quality players largely dictates who plays where. Unless Hines we fly out of the blocks and find ourselves in the top couple of teams, we should be about rotations. Find our best fit and almost as importantly keep trade value up for those who may not find themselves in the mix for the top team. We have a perfect storm, youngsters developing, players having injury issues coming solid and then trading in a couple of guaranteed best 22 players. Our biggest value trade acquisition Williams seems destined to be relegated permanently to the backline. A fun year awaits, just hoping Vossy does not commit early to a narrow group of players and nurtures the whole list.

We have a slight list imbalance, but are oversubscribed for midfielders. All need a chance to shine, but we must sort out our priorities so we are not over invested in one area from a salary cap perspective. A stockpile or healthy competition is well and good, but not practical.

Any really solid non key position defenders that might be around our pick? Would love to pick a Starcevich type up, a tough general defender

Luke Parks just turned 20 has 2-3 years on Starcevic. This will be Parks first full pre season - happy to back him in as hits bodies hard.
