Journalist: "What do you make of the grey jumper? Robert Walls said it was disagraceful and the fans would be embarrassed by it. Pretty strong comments. What are your thoughts?"

Bolton: " I agree with him. I dont like the jumper. I like navy blue and the white emblem on the front. Im a traditionalist. I reckon its a powerful jumper. I think its the most iconic jumper on the competition. I love our jumper - our navy blue.

YES Bolton. This feels correct.

The last question.....why did you name an extended squad, are there a few niggles?

Bolton - Sunday game so name an extended squad.

Do they hand out journalism degrees in weeties boxes these days?

Bolts doesn't like the Greyvy jumper. :thumbsu:
Was that jumper a Trigg decision?

The reason I ask is that a few years back, they put it to our fans to vote which design we liked best. Trigg ended up choosing the design with the least number of votes because he liked it. That was how we ended up with the horrendous "Murder of Crows" jumper.

Shout out to Bolts who finally showed some real character and backed his decision to slam the jumper. Didn't pull punches wasn't politically correct! This is what us supporters want not just in reference to the jumper but in reference to everything to do with the football club!

Well Done Bolts!

Congrats RED!

He copped a lot of crap about his weight and whatnot, but I always liked him.

Obviously Big Red lacked the athleticism for the modern game, but he kicked a stack of goals whilst still a teenager, and and 70 goals in a season when he was ~20yo.

Would have been a champion 20 years earlier, and what little pace/mobility he had was then ruined by injuries.

Played >200 games, was briefly Carlton captain. Put his body on the line. Deserves more respect from fans.

Whitnell had one of the best football brains ever to wear a Carlton jumper. Not only kicked goals himself but set up plenty more.

Cam Mooney said once before that he learnt more from Lance in one match than any other opponent. They were lined up against each other, and the blocks that he put on for team mates, the positions he got to before anyone else in the stadium though to get there allowed him to towel Mooney up. Mooney later applied that forward craft when he become a forward for Geelong.

There is no doubting that the footballing IQ of this guy is in the top few that have played the game. If we were to have his brain in Kouta's body, we would have had an unstoppable force, I'd just about go as far as saying top 5 payers in the history of the game. Unfortunately, he was blessed with the body of a potato.

Jay Clarke on Triple M with JB & Billy - "The AFL are believed to be strongly considering allocating priority picks to Carlton & Gold Coast at the TOP end of the draft. For example, Carlton will have picks 1 & 2, Gold Coast will then have picks 3,4 & 5 (Tom Lynch compo)."
If true, this would put us in such a great position at this years trade/draft period. No, it wont fix us straight away, but if used wisely will surely set us on the way.
JB cracked it of course & then said Eddie will burn AFL House down if this eventuates.

To be fair there were 8 named on the bench, we almost have no one else to name! Never seen that myself.

Triple M (JZ) reporting priority picks will be at the START of the first round, not the end.

But as in:
1 Carlton
2 Carlton
3 Suns
4 Suns

Etc
There is no way it will be like this, it will be before the first round therefore
Pick 1 Carlton priority pick
Pick 2 Gold Coast Priority Pick
Pick 3 Carlton
Pick 4 Gold Coast
Pick 5 Gold Coast Compensation Pick.

Congratulations to Brent Crosswell and Lance Whitnall for being inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Two of my favourite players with very different skill sets.

Crozza was a prototype for the modern footballer. Skilful, a good physique, quick with a huge leap made him a versatile and difficult match up. There’s a lot of Kouta in Crosswell’s ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck. He played with a dodgy clavicle in 1968 and would have one the Norm Smith in 1970. Put him on the locker.

Lance was a footballer first and foremost. His early years (started as a 17 year old) were sensational. He was great at positioning, running to the right spots and his ability to reduce the size of the ground was unique. His goal in the final quarter of the 99 Prelim Final was breathtaking. Much maligned by Carlton and opposition supporters I hope this honour finally gives him the break he deserves.

A lesser known fact! He beat me by 4 slices in a Pizza eating contest one night..
