Was on the train this morning reading McGuane's article... I started laughing so hard the other passengers thought I forgot to take my meds.
Awesome. Have a nephew who is gay and playing Coates league and his response to my sister is that if anyone finds out I'm gay the chances of me getting a look in to being drafted are gone. Pretty sad given the progress the afl broader scene would like us to think we have made.

Nah lij has the best swing... Ollie's grip looks wrongKennedy - very solid swing ( tick) - Hollands brovers- work needed![]()
Yep I did, and I think the rationale behind why he paints his nails is great. The fact he is not gay probably only adds more weight to how great it is. A straight guy painting his nails purely because he wants to. It is surprisingly quirky and flies in the face of that whole landscape. It is pretty sad.
Did you watch the whole vid, Jordan has a girlfriend![]()
Overall doesn't comprehend our injury run (and the impact it had on our defensive structures) but does factor in the Pies latest injury crisis. Admits rather saltily we could potentially finish top 4 this year.
The blokes a glorified hobo. How many times we used to see him passed out sitting against a wall in the city in front of multiple different establishments.. nothings changed. He’s still a sloppy pig of a bloke. I don’t know why anyone even reads the pig’s column. He’s been Collingwood focused since he started writing it.

Not conflating the two, just made me think of my nephew's situation. My nephew is a brute of a kid, and mad for his footy, yet happens to be gay.
You would never know it, yet the struggle for him is huge and will ultimately win out. It is its such an isolating/lonely environment, and he will prob end up heading down the uni route and leave footy behind because his social circle outside of football just don't give a sh*t.
He's a smart confident guy and will be fine whatever path he takes but just sad he still doesn't feel comfortable this day and age pursuing what he loves just because he is gay.
On a side note, it's strange how professional women's sport is such a massively skewed supportive openly gay and hetro environment yet on the men's side of the ledger it's still some sort of perceived weakness.

Thks Esk appreciate itBig hug to your nephew![]()

Thanks Aph as well. Appreciate it.From me as well Garters
I agree there’s much better acceptance in the public sphere in regard to sexuality in womens sport. On a side note, it's strange how professional women's sport is such a massively skewed supportive openly gay and hetro environment yet on the men's side of the ledger it's still some sort of perceived weakness.

It's not hard to understand what's at play and why it works that way but the explanation is not politically correct.I agree there’s much better acceptance in the public sphere in regard to sexuality in womens sport.
However, I have a daughter who is involved at a high level - can tell you there’s still significant issues with segregation and discrimination within the female AFL world as well unfortunately.
