So watched the replay.

Happy for the players to win . Young group that seems to be able to follow instructions and adjust.
they worked really hard but there’s not much to get excited about as far as players are concerned.

A couple might end up as B graders.

A credit to Luke Power that they got better in the third. We smashed them in the last quarter, just couldn’t score. Happy enthusiastic crew.
Making that assessment of a few of 18 and 19 year olds already

Ok

That’s what we do here.

Plenty of people gushing at the potential of many who played tonight.

I don’t see that much to get excited about apart from the effort . That’s what was encouraging, effort, some good coaching and persistence. Just good teamwork. It was enjoyable but there’s not much there in terms of feeding into the first 22 .

For a small guy, he’s a thumping kick.

Watched him at a couple of training runs over here & he was spanking 55 metre drop punts.

Maybe gets a bit of stage fright in the ones.

Not allowed to play natural game in ones

Another example of why I want these kids staying in reserves and playing under Power

Benefits are huge

Anyone who says speed doesn't matter is crazy.

Some genuine spuds out there in our VFL team but if they can create space with their run and effort it gives the kickers a lot more leeway.

Jason Castagna possibly the best example of a s*** footballer who could genuinely run and chase being bloody effective at AFL level.

Game style generates speed of ball movement. Pies are proof of this

Charleston looks a find. I really think Austin is doing a good job with this mini list refresh.

Our next backline has all the pieces already, then we’ve got Jagga, One of the Campo’s and Walker to come for the middle.

And hopefully Moir and Lemmey as the next pieces upfront.

The youth doesn’t look too bad.
In hindsight, I wonder if going for Archer May in the MSD was the better play going forward? Flynn might be great don't get me wrong, but May with Lemmey would be a useful combo going forward if we did ever trade out one of the big boys.

Honestly Soapy, I reckon save the kids this week against Brissy, and blood them against Melbourne, start of a new era in that game works perfectly IMO.

It’s seems to me like power is instructing, setting up and implementing a modern game plan.
Are power and voss on the same page with this?
I’d bloody hope that Voss is trying to implement what power has!
And that the reason why it isn’t really working is because where hamstrung atm with a few to many of the wrong type?

I just don’t know why vossy doesn’t release the shackles on some of our players that can run and create!
It’s what the game is all about this day and age!
It’s got me dumbfounded really.
Because we don't have the run in the players out there to do so

I don’t know but I feel Power has shifted game plan in last month or so

Players are playing for him and look happier and less pressured

There were a few comments here along that line during the game.
I think it is worth considering that that is roughly when we had most of the players cleared off the injury list. The last month or so we have had the most AFL listed players in the VFL team of all year (and probably for several years)

It would cause chaos for tge players if power and Voss were playing different styles.

If there is any truth to it, we should keep our youngsters away from Voss.

That spray Voss gave Binns (now that it’s been confirmed) is just another example of how ficked up he is as a coach.

If this group continues developing as they are I’d love power to be caretaker coach to see how he goes in the seniors.

There weren’t too many senior players in this team thst beat filth. And it’s mostly the players that haven’t seen much senior games that got us going.

Durdin is one case in point. Even at vfl level he doesn’t provide much.

Boyd was ok I guess and I didn’t see much of Lewis as I started watching late when our surge was on.

Doesn’t explain obvious change in game style

Voss could try a similar approach(like the second half of 2024), the senior team is playing a timid and conservative style.
We've still got some mobile players like Saad, Gov, Haynes, Carroll, Ollie, Williams, FYoung, Moir etc. capable of moving the ball with dare.

It's infectious, even Monahan is beginning to show promise.
