What do people think of Colbys review. It's going to be tough year.I only see Melbourne with no chance and possibly Richmond. I think Freo,Kangaroos,Port Adelaide might surprise a few.The other clubs are equal to us or not much behind except the top clubs like Geelong.

Freo will surprise no-one. They do the same thing every year. Useless.
Melbourne will do better than expected, even without Jurrah. I predict between 13 - 10 for them.

Bernie Vince is a fine player but he would struggle to make the top 20 let alone the top 10 which I would have thought would be reserved for the genuine superstars of the game.

Is this list for last years performances or how he thinks they'll rate by the end of the year or how he thinks they rate now?

Cats with 4 players in the comp's top 10...amazing anyone got within ten goals of them.

There is no way known that Bartel is the third best player in the competition and after Cox's 09, it's arguable whether he's the best ruckman, let alone 8th best in the league.

On their 09 seasons, Vince and Gibbs would be pretty close, Vince maybe just ahead but Murph ahead of both.

"So who are the top 50 players any discerning football fan would happily pay their hard-earned at the gate at a time when a game or a team might not deliver entertainment?..........
Anyway, who is the AFL's No.1 player for entertainment value? And, not by coincidence, also for talent, value to his team and promise in 2010"

Richmond with no chance for the next 2-3 years.

Melbourne is rebuilding and should start to climb back up the ladder again this year.

Port and Freo will both be down in the bottom 6 along with Essendon.

I would like to think that we would make the 8 again this year, but the first 12 matches are basically going to be more development on our forward line and getting our mids to be more accountable.

I see us as being anything from 7th to 10th. I certainly dont see us as far down as 13th. We are not a bottom 4 side any more.

Even with Fev, our expected loses this year would have been against most of the teams we face in the first 8/9 rounds.

The tough start to our draw probably allows us time to work on our forwardline in matches we were likely to lose anyway - may work in our favour.

Coles has Corona on special for $50 a slab, very good price. But if you like corona there is a very similar beer from coles called Cantina that sells for $40 a slab and is very nice.

No Hayes or Black in the top 10.
The bloke is SA's version of Caro.

I think that it will. I think that Ratts and the MC have identified 3-4 matches where we would be expected to win this year and we will be playing to win those.

The other 5-6 matches might be more about settling people into their new positions in the forward line and getting the delivery into them working properly.

One of the things a lot of posters havent worked out yet is the fact that now we are working with a more conventional forward line instead of having a power forward and someone sitting at CHF. We have to drill the players who are bringing the ball into the forward line to stop and look around and weigh up the best possible option. Their fellow mid's should also be working at spotting up the best option in front of them and either calling for the ball to work it to that option or possibly pointing it out to the ball carrier.

This is going to take some time.

I think the blues will finish around 8th-10th.
i hope in the top 8 but it will be a tuff first 8 games for the blues, cant see us goin anywhere this year really. I hope in the trade period we can pick up someone like a Pavlich.

It is a tough start - my predictions for the first half is for 4 to 5 wins:
  1. Richmond (MCG) - W
  2. Brisbane (gabba) - L
  3. Essendon (MCG) - W
  4. Crows (AS) - L
  5. Geelong (MCG) - L
  6. Collingwood (MCG) - L
  7. StKilda (ES) - L
  8. Port Adel (AS) - ?
  9. Hawthorn (ES) - ?
  10. WCE (ES) - W
  11. Melbourne (MCG) - W

It is amazing to think a side that has picked up Judd, Murphy, Gibbs & K in the last 3 years, and has had years of low picks is potentially not going to make the 8 let alone be a flag threat.

If we miss the 8 it is a friggin joke.

Until of course you realise that the majority of our team hasn't hit their prime yet, but will do so at around the same time - scary isn't it.

By the way, every team is 'potentially' going to miss the 8 - if you simply rate us against the rest of the competition, there are not 8 teams that are without doubt a better team than Carlton currently...

It's nearly as good as Rucci's Top 50.

While he managed to fit Akermanis , Robbie Gray :eek:,
Chad (when was the last time i played a decent game) Cornes,:eek::eek:
Darren Jolly and 4 game Naitanui in,
he just couldn't squeeze in Marc Murphy.

the spaz also couldnt find room for sam fisher or brett deledio, somehow shannon hurn was 50 and luke ball at 18 and that is only the tip of the iceberg. How come he gets payed to write crap like this?

My point is after years of low picks most people seem to be expecting us to struggle to me something has gone wrong, recruiting, coaching, development not sure what.

I for one have an expectation that after years of low picks and making the finals last year that we should have a worst case expectation of 8th.
