No venting. Just the cold, hard facts, ma'am.

Wheels off 2012. With the current output, will be lucky to win more than three games for the rest of the year, leaving us well in the bottom half of the ladder. Even with a big turnaround of, say, six wins (same thing happened in late '98, won five of the last seven), we'd likely miss the 8.

Hopefully we can get some games into Mitchell, because Waite is pretty much done and dusted. Would be silly not to throw every loose dollar at any half decent tall forwards in the off season.

Ratts is gone, I'm afraid. Missing the finals will be the, ahem, final straw. Not sure who will replace him, but people would be looking in the direction of Geelong and Adelaide and seeing what a switched on first year coach with a good team and a decent list is capable of. We have a window of two to three years (2013 - 14/15) with the bulk of the current list, then GWS and GC will own the competition. The smart time for a clearout and rebuild is then.

They had a go.

This is an A grade side playing a B grade side.

This is a side with a system and one that is clueless.

If Ratten looks in shock, totally confused, way out of his depth when the camera hits the coaches box, its because he is. He is clueless, its that simple. Moving Gibbs to tag Young said it all. Game was there to be won in that second quarter and Ratten went into auto mode, defensive mode, get Gibbs to tag.

Ratten is finished, wasted years.

Get Koby Stevens and Shaun McKernan over the offseason. Forward line looks so woefully inept and embarrassing. Games into Mitchell/Casboult if possible. Big preseason for Rowe.

Probably time to start giving guys like McInnes a go. Worth giving O'Keeffe a shot. Season is pretty much done and dusted so time to start getting some games into young blokes to A) fast-track their development and B) see how good they are/can be.

Where are our talls?

See Franklin, roughhead, Gunston, Breust out there tonight providing a structure.

Where are our talls guys?

Oh thats right, we have a plethora of mid sized half back flankers, so mannnnny it defies belief.

But hey, you guys all know about trading and structure dont you.

How does it go, we need mids, more half back flankers, and hell, while we are at it, why dont we use a number 1 pick as a tagger and pay him 500k per year.

So this club wants to play finals and we dish up this crap...PISS OFF Ratten and take the shit Assistant Coaches with you...You have no game plan, the 3 ruckmen strategy continues to fail....Im afraid to say that I expect more pain next year as we get used to a new coaches game plan.....Bring on the silver fox

FFS It's not that hard. Yes we are rubbish, and yes we have injuries. But WTF is Ratten doing.

1) You have 46 players on a list, all with positions. There are Forwards, Midfielders, Defenders, Rucks.
2) You select the best 6 defenders, 6 forwards, 2 Ruckmen and the rest midfielders.
3) If you are the 3rd best Ruckman, you do not get a game at FF. You select the next best available FORWARD to play in the forward line.
4) If you were the clubs best FORWARD last year, you do not put them in the MIDFIELD because we are lacking numbers, you simply select the next best available MIDFIELDER.

I am sick to death of this make shift side we put out each week, injuries are no excuse, you select the best available players to play in their suited positions. It ruins structures, it ruins players confidence by shuffling around the side. FFS I don't care if we have 7 a grade defenders, the 7th does not get a game in another position just because he is a better 'player' then the next person, that next person may be a better 'forward' then the defender.

No other side in the competition has a make shift side like ours, even with injuries.

We have this situation every year where we hit a flat spot and it costs us 5-6 games and a high ladder position, the reason being we don't have the depth when injuries strike. Like Leigh Matthews said, you need a list of about 30 to remain competitive, Ratten has had 5 years to build that 30 and we're still nowhere near it. Would love to get someone like Roos in.

Things we can control:

- Forward structure. Neither Kreuz nor Hampson are a CHF - don't know where to run, how to position, how to crash a pack. One of them - just one - can play FF. When Hammer played FF in the last quarter and Kreuz cleared out we looked better. (I'd rather Walker stay at home at FF and just play two of the three ruckman). More space for the little guys. Hendo must play CHF. We need some smarts in that position. It saps the whole team. 5-10 times tonight our midfielders hit up where a CHF should be and there was nothing ... and the ball rebounded right down the middle. Beyond this, we over-pressed and were exposed. When we relaxed the press a bit we looked a lot better.

- Variable intensity. We are playing hard and intense footy for half a game ... we need to do more. Maybe this will come with confidence and fitness, but our opponents would go in with some confidence that they will eventually break us. I still don't see enough aggression as part our overall intensity. Why no one really got into Guerra after what he did to Betts was bewildering.

We can't control:

- Injuries (it's not just the missing guys - it's also the ones who are playing who are clearly not fit)

- The Bullants rubbish schedule for bringing through the young ones, building their tanks for AFL and managing injury rehabilitation.

The form and confidence will come. Some good performances tonight - four quarter effort by Judd, Gibbs, Robbo, Carrotts and Army. Good three quarter effort from Watson. Yarran worked his way into the game.

ratten needs to go, how can the board be serious about keeping him beyond this year...if he coaches next year that becomes his 6th year. im sick of seeing the same crap everyweek...zone , press to start off with then catch up footy...is this club and its players serious ? we knew what was required and this is how we respond...Its embarrassing to watch the tigers and even the saints improve

We need a complete and total overhaul of the coaching panel. Barker needs to go before the end of the season. That we have nothing remotely close to a functioning forward line is a disgrace given the ample talent that we have at our disposal in that part of the ground. The others can go. Go and get us Nathan Bassett, Mick Malthouse or Scott Burns in that order.

The players need to be much more accountable for one another on the field. They need to play for one another even if they're not going to play for the coaching staff. If an opposition player takes down one of ours, you get them back immediately. Not ten, fifteen minutes later - on the spot. If it costs us a player or two to suspension this year so be it. We're not going to win a premiership this year. Make a statement.

Wheels fell off on our season with the Laidler news last weekend. Until then there was something to remain hopeful for. Not anymore. Sad.

It has been a tough year for your mob after such a bright start.

That's what happens when you get Ross Lyin as a coach and he plays his favorites over much better players. Sadly its an affinity our coach shares and a part of the reason why he's going to be out the door.

The dumbfounded looks on Ratten's face was REALITY! doesn't matter how simple or intricate the game plan is... If players can't kick the ball 30 metres to hit a target or dribble the ball 30 metres through the big sticks, what you're trying to achieve is gonna come up short every time. A please explain to the match committee this week. Bootsma being subbed out at half time was EMBARRASSING to say the least. It was like they rolled up after a big lunch on Thursday after and said "who are we playing this week? oh yeah Hawthown" WTF! How Collins didn't get a game baffled me as for Brock Mclean?? He is of value for the first 25 minutes of a full game. then we are down to 21 men for the rest of the game. too many wrongs at Carlton at the moment and like in any business.. someone has to be accountable. Sorry Ratts, that's how this business rolls.

get game time into young prospects in positions we need, drop down the ladder and hopefully get a decent pick. have a great, injury free preseason and hopefully do a west coast or adelaide. i remember when eagles finished last they constantly missed players like kerr, cox and a few others and were as bad as we have looked at times this year. they recruited well and got there important players back and turned it around the next year. they kept their coach but he was a premiership coach, its getting to the point that if we dont beat kangas and bulldogs, ratts will go.

I have now put a line straight through Season 2012. Don't care if we make finals, this year is officially irrelevant for us.

SACK: Ratten, I am a fan of Ratts but he is shaping up as our scapegoat.

DELIST: Davies, Casboult, Thornton, McLean, Curnow, White, O'Keefe

TRADE BAIT: Waite, Russell, Lucas, Yarran, Collins, 1st round pick

GOAL: Trade all of our older assets or younger under performers to fill the deficiencies on our list.

Eagles have proven you don't need gun forwards to compete, just some consistent options. Their tall forwards right now are Lynch, Darling and Cox. Surely with we could trade for some ready-made options of a similar standard.

MUST NOT DO: Sign Malthouse. Trade for Cloke.

I hate everything about this post - yet something is so right about all of it.

Trade Yarran

Well, truth be told we need to rethink everything - we need to put all our cards on the table -

We are deep in it right now. Can't see how Sticks/Mackay/Ratts are going to get out of this without Ratts falling on his sword.
