Cant help but think that Carlton will really try and unsettle the Tiges with there physicality come Thursday night. They certainly put it over us at the Centenary Game and I still have doubts over our this aspect of our game.

While the blues are not overly aggressive. The Tigers do lack a lot of grunt and arrogrance. Surely with Ben on board the arrogrance should improve...just need someone to stand up and be an enforcer like a Mooney or Brown.

i think your right dude .. we dont seem to be a mentally strong as other sides, i think it is a weakness :(

players like deledio, tambling, brown, mcmahon, johnson ... i never see them ever get upset when we loose ... although i love them all (except johnson)
i think they need more ticker, players who have heart at our club are richo, white, riewoldt, newman

my comments may seem harsh but i think they pretty fair ... its just my opinion

Simply put, we have no pack breakers, no gorillas, and no massive mongrels that will tear a game apart. Who are our enforcers?

Our back half can take care of itself. McGaune and Moore will not step down.

Jack, even if out his weight division doesn;t take any shit and it only needs one to get the troops on their toes.

I think we'll be okay if we keep our eyes on the ball and not the man.

Don't worry Brown stated the Tigers are going to hit them with everything this is going to be a high pressure game. They had their best side against Fremantle and got pumped by a bunch of youngsters. The Tigers performed very well against the same side. They might just tear a new one on Carlton this Thursday.:thumbsu:

Don't think that'll be a problem. ;)

If the fired up like they were here then they'll go along way to winning the game but....

That was the shining light of a win in what was another disappointing season.

We have a massive mongrel, I'd love to see Schultz just attack the footy flat out, clean up anyone in blue in his way. If he can do that in our forward line that'll have Carlton defenders looking around to see where he is. Problem is we've rarely seen it from him.

Cuz always showed an aggresive determination when he played for the WCE, he'll be an enforcer for us, I don't think he likes to lose, a quality our team can do with.

King & Thompson don't look to me like the physical side of the game is a problem for them, neither of them is an automatic selection though.

Physicality will help win a game of footy but it's not the be all and end all.

The midfield battle will be a fairly even one. I think our forwards and defence match up pretty well, that'll be where we win the game. IMHO!

I can't believe this is an issue. Although we don't have any thugs, we have plenty of players that don't take a backward step. I would back our physicality over Carltons any day of the week. Havent we been in the top 2 in the league for contested possessions over the past couple of years?

I agree 100% that most the tigers list is full of players who are courageous. I also agree very few boys take a beackward step at Tigerland.

The issue I see is that there is no one there that makes a large looming presence....Someone like Byron Pickett made guys check if he was on the interchange before they picked up a loose ball.

When the Lions were at there best they went the ball hard the man hard and told you about it!! Just feel we are a little to gentlemen like!

Agreed Jackson can be one angry ranga,

Connors is twice the angry ranga that Jackson is.

So, we don't have any guys that are just strong, bullocky, hard at the footy types?

You know who are last player was that had those attributes, the last of the old school of footballers?

Paul Broderick.

So, call me a cynic, but I'm just reading this as people who called for the heads of players like Brodders because they weren't lightning fast greyhounds with the jump of high-jumpers despite the fact that although they weren't fast they had very good foot skills. So then we got a crop of players who weren't tough, but they could run all day and jump like gazelle.....can't kick a footy for the life of them.

So basically you are whinging that our footballers aren't tough and have bad foot-skills, but when we had some players that were tough, they weren't any good either even though they could hit targets.

:confused::confused::confused:

I need a panadol and a lie down.

Contested possessions doesn't mean much, bit of a false statistic really. Hawthorn and Geelong aren't known for there contested possessions as such instead there mongrel and hard bodies. Coming second in contested possessions and ninth on the ladder who cares. And to be honest I find it surprising that after 4 years TW who when he had the Doggies they were known for walking a fine line in regard to attack on the man has the Tiges in a position where I can't see us really putting the foot down. Being hartd doesn't win footy games these days but it certainly didn't hurt Richmond premiership teams in the past.

Sorry, but I really disagree with you here. It was this statistic that stopped us finishing a lot lower. Our foot skills last year were no better than the bottom teams at times. If we had the foot skills of Hawthorn and Geelong to go with our contested possessions we would be top 3 certainties.

Mate contested possessions is one of the biggest statistics in the game if your not hard at the balll you wont get the ball.
