Numbers stack up for Saints

FRASER Gehrig's unusual swansong to his playing career took another turn three days ago when he sat down with Ben Cousins in Perth and put forward the tantalising option of the No. 9 guernsey at St Kilda having become vacant and in need of a new owner.

Of course, it is a number familiar to both men, and Gehrig told Cousins he would look good in it. The recently retired Saint had accompanied coach Ross Lyon and football manager Matthew Drain to St Kilda's first meeting with Cousins, a meeting which went well and has become all the more significant since Collingwood went public with the misgivings which became apparent during grand final week.

Pretty good article by Caro. Seems that the club is doing all the right things on this and has thought it through. Nice to see that G-Trains involved.

Board will approve me thinks. Just want to get this commissions meeting over and done with. So we can know for sure. :)

Usually I take what she says with as much salt as good ol Mike since while he's opinion shes "supah secret source shhh... would you liek fries with that?" although even I think that article was better articulated than some. Also good to see that indeed the G-Train still helping us out, class act.

class act has to be queried... what's that on my leg?

Gehrig has been and continues to be a boon for the club and he is well liked by both the players and the administration, that he's continuing to help out after his failed bid at a return where other clubs might have just cut him loose just shows that Gehrig is a bloody good bloke.

He's a bloke's bloke... but not necessarily a lady's bloke.

Fraser was Mr Efficiency - goakicking efficiency, hairstyling efficiency, and going-to-the-toilet efficiency. Many others have followed in his footsteps (well, not so much with the goalkicking and the hair).

Thought this was an interesting article, as the Saints are pretty slow at letting the fans know what is going on with the players (team announcements, injuries, performances at Casey, delistings etc etc).

But I've always thought Caro had a good network of sources. She just struggles with the Saints, which is why she put it to Ross on FC. It's funny, when it comes to board matters we leak like a sieve, but the players are a different thing. Sometimes this is a good thing, but I'd rather read about our players more often (probably Jeld-Wen would too).
