Amidst the Headland sledging from some on this Board I have been surprised that there has not been any criticism so far about J Carr's suspension and game.

He has developed a habit of giving away 50 metre penalties, and rides the ridge between fair hardness, and reportable behaviour. His game on the weekend was servicable, and so has his form this year. No more.

Unlike Headland who has some justification from provocation, Carr, who is our VC and one of our topline players, simply overstepped the mark. I am not wanting to justify Headland, and even with provocation I don't think his actions are acceptable. But in our current state, with so many players unavailable and a huge game coming up, Carr's actions were critical and extremely damaging.

Farmer, Carr, Headland and Black are all team leaders suspended for actions outside of play. Headland is the only one I can see justification for.

Oh absolutely agree, at a time when we're missing Farmer, Johnson, Black (at the time) through suspension, all 3 would be in our top 10 players, to go and get yourself reported when we are desperate to win a game is totally unacceptable- coming from a club leader too!

Pull your heads in fellas!

Mainly because I expect Josh to play against Melbourne and I expect Headland to miss 6 weeks. Most people, myself included, have been fairly supportive of Headland over this incident though. I still have issues with his endeavour though, and if Peake, Schammer, Browne and Farmer were available Des would barely be missed. Most of our players that are missing are quick. :o

I don't actually understand what you are saying dom?

If as you say you are supportive of Headland over this incident, then the criticism of Headland is that he has had an ordinary start to the year, as well as a poor finals series. I dispute some of that, in that I think he has been serviceable. For me, I am less supportive of Headland's actions over Selwood's comments. But Carr's actions in striking are inexcusable.

Do you think Carr has been more than serviceable? He had a good game against Port, but our clearances have been the biggest problem this year, and that is where he is at the coalface. I thought he gave away 2-50 metre penalties on the w/end, plus has been suspended for 2 weeks. That is very damaging. He also seemed to spend most of the game on Braun and Stenglein, and they killed us.

I don't see the point in criticising Carr for allegedly striking because I haven't seen the incident and expect him to play this week. His last 2 weeks have been poor, the problem with our midfielders is that they don't have the pace or height to beat a tag. If they both miss out Carr will be much more of a loss than Dessie though. Carr has enough runs on the board to be excused for a couple of mediocre games, Headland doesn't.

Considering our outs we have needed Headland to be much more than serviceable. I think he was poorly coached on the weekend, he should have spent most of the game inside 50 because we were desperate for a pacey forward on the weekend.

Yeah thanks dom. I agree that Carr is a much more critical player for us, and has more leeway in terms of actual performance. And we would definitely miss him more; we already get killed in the clearances

I actually thought Carr had already copped the 2 weeks, so I guess I have my foot in my mouth, unless he actually does get suspended.
