The only cartoon show that could match The Simpsons was Ren and Stimpy. The Simpsons is top shelf and only Ren and Stimpy's moronic antics could rise to the same standard.

For a kids cartoon show Ren and Stimpy was refreshing original and hilarious.

Course all of which means I have not seen it for years.

I also think that 'Futurama' is as clever as the Simpsons, which is probably due to Mat Groening creating both series.

Futurama is funny for anyone with a sense of the comedic, or a sense of humour.
I think the Simpsons and Futurama are hilarious. If you don't agree that's just fine, you can keep posting and talk to yourself about it.

I love the simpsons. I've even downloaded almost every episode and burnt them on cd. I can watch them for hours and always find new jokes in them. Like aggels, I would start quoting, but that thread has been done before. I also agree with Santos, Futurama is fantastic, probably the only decent show on during summer.

The Simpsons is definitely the best animated series EVER. No other show can match it in terms of consistent performance (10+ years) with scripts full of intelligent and witty humour. Dan C, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer up there with the best of them in terms of voice actors.

Ren & Stimpsy's 1st season, South Park's ocassional comic brilliance and gems from shows such as Duckman, Futurama, Family Guy, Beavis & Butthead etc might sometimes rise to the same level, but NONE have been able to sustain it over the long term.
