Interesting they mentioned he was offered a plea deal of life with 10 years minimum before trial, but knocked it back.

After listening to it all I don’t have much sympathy for him. I can kind of understand his stance on drugs, but he went well beyond that. He had people killed (or thought he did), and was happy to set up weapons trafficking on Silk Road. Black market guns and weapons exist for one reason, to kill a lot of people quickly. And often innocent people - there’s no law enforcement or crime fighters using the black market.

I did think the sentence was OTT, but I don’t feel too sorry for him. I reckon he simply became a greedy ******.
What I found interesting was his stance changing over the years. Silk Road was claimed to make purchasing drugs safer - meanwhile, he was ordering hits in the background...

I also think his sentence was absurd. They absolutely made an example of him. I'd have been ok if he'd got 20 years or so - is he really that big a threat?

Ive smashed through the 5 part East Area Rapist episode in the last day and a half. And without meaning to sound callous to the victims, that to say I felt a bit annoyed there was no perp caught after 40 odd years, and this was a 7 hour episode, is an understatement.

I feel there was no point to the podcast apart from generating interest and hope that someone might recognise the rapist/killer now.

Great episode, but after 7 hours I wanted a villain.

I've downloaded this one but haven't got around to listening to it yet. It did seem bloody long, knowing that there was no resolution at the end of it.

Into ep 4 of SKS (someone knows something) about a man who was killed by a torch bomb that was send to him, fascinating and scary case that some sick maniac would do this, they even wrote a note which is chilling.
Google the story there is alot about it on youtube etc.

Listened to them all now except Snowtown which I don't have the stomach for, looking for something in between Casefile releasing the next.

I found Felon, which is similar in style. Felon S2E6 - David O'Hearn (former Wollongong Mayor) and Frank Arkell murders. In four parts and an extended series, theme child pornography, paedophilia and revenge. Of sorts.

Edit. Added revenge.

Felon is decent. Sword and Scale might be something you'll enjoy.

“Unresolved” is worth a listen. I first came across it to listen to The Alcasser Girls. One of the worst instances of a solvable case being botched that I’ve ever heard.

True Crime Garage.

Listened to the Rayna Rison one today.

Incredible to think that had the kid brother not been up in the rafters, there's a huge chance this would still be unsolved.

About halfway through the podcast I was sure it’d be the brother in law who’d done it. Couldn’t believe the family supported him after what he did to her, it boggles the mind

Have you listened to Trace?
If not, judging by your posts, I think you would really enjoy it.

Yeah that was ****ed. Was bad enough the sister was still with him (I know people make poor choices in the name of 'love') but I can't understand how the family was still ok with having him around.

Such an awful existence that poor girl lived in hindsight. All the sexual assault and then died at the hands of the other creep.

Raynor Rison and the Philip Island murder were quite well done.

Listening to the Pizza Murder at the moment not the easiest listen but will get there.
I listened to the Australian True Crime Phillip island murder podcast straight after the casefile one. Clears a few things up.

Enjoying the Brian Wells one thus far... half an hour in.

Spoiler alert.

On realising this was something I'd never heard before, how shocking .. and the press had footage of the explosion I admit looking for a pic and someone, in really bad taste has made a giphy, gif thing. Boom.

Poor bloke.

Finally listened to the Snowtown one this morning.

Absolutely brutal. I don't doubt that all the sexual assaults that occurred to them as kids had a big influence on them. Jamie had been assaulted by 3 or 4 different people - I can't even imagine how hard that must have been.

Not that it condones what they did of course. Vile people.

Can’t believe i’d never heard of the Phillip Island murder. Asked my parents about it and they remembered it well. Old man says it was always thought dodgy because they never found her body.

The most obvious outcome seems likely, but if you dig, s**t there’s some things that don’t fit.

The phone call to her friend in the morning is mystifying.
