Despite whatever happens tonight i feel like we actually have an Australian Tennis player who does this country proud.
Casey showcases everything that Australian's pride themselves on, Commitment, Courage, Sportsman/womanship, Hard Working, grit and determination and the ability to hold her own when things are tough.

Fantastic tennis player, and would beat Molik 8 times out of 10...She is gonna sky rocket up the rankings throughout this year, and will soon be our no.1 girl....Add her amazing potential with her left handed groundstrokes, and you've got a great player...! :thumbsu:

One game away from the match.

Really hope she can come through with the win, will put her in the Top 50 and show great promise again for Australian Tennis.:thumbsu:

Ditto what everyone else said. Gotta admit I never really rated her, but I've got a new found respect for her after these last two matches, win or lose tonight. Go Casey!

Just so happens she supports Carlton too!;)

She is now Australia's no.1 girl....!
I'm very very confident that she'll knock over the 3rd seed Jelena Jankovic....Can she win the Aussie Open, I hope so !!! :D:thumbsu:

I know :D Juddy was there in the stands tonight too haha :thumbsu:

Anyway, that was easily the best moment of the open so far! ****in well done to her, what a little champ!!! So down to earth too!

Reckon she has a real chance against Jankovic as well!

Very difficult not to like her. She's had to work her ass off to get to this level and you can only admire people like that.

i dunno molik made the QF's around 2-3 years back. she is now in the dumps with confidence.
seriously **** lleyton barrack for this one.

Very, very happy for Dellacqua. I was at her first round match last year and was so impressed with her fighting spirit against Srebotnik, especially after she injured herself fairly early on (rolled her ankle really badly). I thought she was gone for all money then, and while she did end up losing, she showed so much and was basically playing on one leg. Took it to an extended third setter from memory against not too shabby opposition.

I know there's been plenty said about it in the media and it will probably now be done ad nauseum but she's really had to do it tough and I would say this is just reward for so much hard work. She's a very entertaining player and whatever happens for the rest of the tournament she has given herself the confidence to compete at a good level. :)

Alicia made the quarters in 2005.

She beat Venus in straight sets in the fourth round and went down 9-7 in the third set to Davenport in the QF.

Ann Minter was the last Aussie to make it to the QF stage before that, and that was way back in 1988.

For Dellacqua to make it to that stage, she will have top go a step ahead and best the third ranked player. She has done an excellent job so far knocking out Mauresmo and Schnyder. I for one never rated her before this tournament, but I am starting to be impressed with what I am seeing from her. Hope she can keep it up.

Typical Essendon supporter - has a great start and believes it can win the tournament.

I truly think she will beat Jelena, albeit the week will catch up to her. She won't win the tournament though. Doesn't have a good enough serve or level of consistency.

Impressive tournament. Inspiring really. Plenty of room for improvement.

That backhand :thumbsu:

I've been watching Dellacqua's form before the tournament, and I had her in the back of my head as a real wildcard...I'm not one of those people that just jump on bandwagons just because they have recently had success....And yeah, she'll take it right up to Jelena...! :thumbsu:

It's actually good to see an Aussie be the aggressor in big matches like this one - so often when you get a player on the big stage for the first time, they go right into their shell, but she lived and died by the sword all night and that's the perfect way to approach every match. If she can keep this up, she'll be a top 40 player before too long.

Good on her. Lets be honest, she'll probably lose comfortably in her next match but don't let it be a downer, she has come along massively and looks like with the added attention can finally get some of the sponsorship dollars and fame that she deserves. Predict by this time next year she will be a genuine top 40 or 30 player and hopefully can really learn from this tournament.

Anyone notice last night that one of the commentators, I don't recall who, saying that they believe that every sportsperson who tries their hardest, no matter what level they are at, will make it and get their time in the sun. Easy for them to say if they got it, but Im sure me and many others here have given their all and not had their time in the sun! Not to take anything away from Casey though
