I like HFFs suggestion of trying something different with steinberg. but as i said on the day, i'd actually move him in the other direction, to the goalsquare. he is playing a difficult role at the moment that often see's him deliberately running himself out of position, and then trying to work back into a congested zone. moving him up to the wing would not change a great deal for him imo, because he already spends a fair bit of time high up the ground anyway. I'd like to see how he went if he got to present to the footy on the move, and hopefully only an opponent to beat with the ball kicked in front of him.
the interesting thing is that he ended up with 17 possies, two goals and a remarkably high 11 marks (remarkable because it didn't stand out that much on the day) on sunday. that's actually a pretty bloody good output for the role he has. I'd just like to see him make a few adjustments to his game - force players to kick to advantage by getting on the move more is the main thing - but also adjust the gameplan a bit to let him use his strengths.
late in the game, when defenders tired and the zone was less effective, Steinberg came into his own when he was able to outmark one-on-one regularly. that's hinting at how he could be best utilised.
either way, he's still tracking fine. keep developing him, that's the key.
