I have a fantasy footy side and I have Cassisi on my list. Picked him late based on stats. Can he improve to 20 possesions per game player or will he struggle to fill the void of Carr

He wont get huge numbers as far as fantasy footy goes but he will serve you well for consistent middle of the range scores.
He does have the penchant for sneaking in to the forward lines and snaffling a couple of goals on the odd occasion too. Good if somewhat unspectacular player.

has been one of my disappointments in the pre season. Hopefully he proves me wrong but i dont think hes our next JOsh Carr type

Agreed. Dom hasn't taken the big step up that people were hoping for with Josh's departure. However the real stuff hasn't started yet so judgement will have too be reserved at this point.
IMO he is a different type of player too Carr anyway.

You're right he is a different player - but he had a good year last year - hopefully he can improve some more

He can dispose of the football effectively. He's good under pressure. He can kick goals. I don't see any similarities so far.

he does turn the ball over quite a lot and too much for a midfielder and does miss some easy goals. I admire him though because I don't think he is the most naturally taqlented players, but one of the biggest triers. Nowhere near a Josh Carr and probably a good 21 / 22 player IMO.

I think he plays his role and offers value to the side. At this point of his career I definitely have him as a run-with player though and an improving one at that. He doesn't have the finish IMO to be compared to Carr yet, but he has good evasive skills and when he goes for it, good pace also.

During the preseason he was virtually inconspicuous which has left a few of us disillusioned about him perhaps. The only thing I could say I remember about his preseason was his fumbling which was something he had managed to tidy up in 2004. I still suspect he will have several good games this year but I don't see him as being in our best five midfielders.

In answer to the question, he certainly has the ability to pick up big stats in a game of football.
He has shown this ability in the SANFL prior to becoming a regular AFL player
However i dont think you will see the great improvement this year. This year he will improve his game but this will not be obvious as opposition teams will be more aware of what he does so he will develop his game around that.
2006 should be his ground breaking year in the midfield stats wise.
For dream team he could be worth the punt.

And if he burnt it up in preseason, everyone would say he needs to do it in the Home and Away. The kid has talent but needs to do it in the next couple of seasons. He's a premiership player now, with scalps so if he can move into a ball winning role this year and perfect it next year, then I'll be happy.

I think you drank to much after the premiership... IMO.

I took quite an interest in his intermittent games for us in 2003. I patted my back on my selector's skills when Dom took his chance in 2004 and played very well game after game. He is now a first 22 player. Dom will probably find a bit more in 2005 with maturity and experience. You see this all the time e.g Josh Carr himself, Kane Cornes etc.
Josh Mahoney rapidly took over as my pet player in 2004, but that's another story.
