Hopefully playing SANFL week in week out and improving throughout the year. Fitness & body wise he is pretty much there as he is with getting his hands on the ball. So I would say we are looking for him to create the play with his disposal and use his pace to great advantage.
We took 8 teenagers in last year’s draft and they all seem to have gone through their first preseason relatively unscathed. It would be a dream result if they could all say on the park. Getting guys like Pudney to 50 games as quickly as possible is so important.

The Connor Rozee 4 page spread in the SAWeekend magazine had a couple of interesting bits on Kai Pudney which confirms he will fit in nicely to the new and improved game style we are trying to perfect this year.

From the Noosa preseason camp, Connor writes in his diary

“I’m not great in the running, bottom third maybe, and Ken (Hinkley) told me coming in that was one of the things I had to work on. My strength is my speed and agility but I need to build up my motor. “It’s hard though running with boys who have been here for five or six pre-seasons so I just try to stay positive, I know I’m only first year so I’ve got to be patient.”

That theory however doesn’t apply to fellow draftee Kai Pudney who the Power took as a Category B rookie from the SANFL and is now arguably the best runner at the club.

“He’s ridiculous, I think he’s done a fair bit of athletics along the way, he’s one of the best runners at the club already,” Rozee said.

And Reece Homfray wrote about how he had a crack at doing a running season with some of the players and wrote

Port staggered its players through the running session in groups and I was in with Boak, Dan Houston, Dougal Howard, Justin Westhoff, Riley Grundy, Rozee and assistant coach Nathan Bassett who can’t seem to let his competitiveness go 10 years after retiring as a player. Thankfully Pudney wasn’t in my group but there was still plenty of quality to make it uncomfortable, but I was already feeling that before we started.

At least Kai was a Catagory B Rookie with a good solid New Australian name- not like that welfare sucking ‘Gypy impersonator James ****ing Borlase. Seriously, you shouldn’t qualify as a Cat B rookie just because your dad once sang ”Che Sera” at karaoke and your mum fed you Heinz Speghetti Oops for breakfast.

This guy isn’t Cat B despite having a 30 letter surname and looking like he was born on a different planet. Yet James ****ing Borlase is Cat B because his parents had a 2 hr stopover at Cairo Airport- give me a break.
