****ing hell. First win live in 4 years

Finally
There’s nothing like the excitement of watching a game like that live, with a huge crowd, nail biting closeness and ending with a Cats victory.

I genuinely feel sorry for people who don’t follow footy, who’ll never experience the euphoric high of witnessing a win like that!

“Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been fined for miming using a gun on court, so he has switched to mimicking throwing a grenade.”

“Morant mimed pulling out the grenade's pin, threw the grenade into the crowd and covered his ears during the mock explosion.”

🙄

I prefer Jezza pulling the pin on a beer can, true Aussie compared to that American gunny shite.
AFL should jump on it, instead of fining half a bird as a bad look for kids.

The only guy I remember from the Lions in that era doing something that was really outrageous by the standards of the day was Lynch in the 2004 GF.

It was really interesting watching Lethal interviewed on Open Mike about his on-field violence in the 70s and 80s. He wasn't proud of it, and if anything shied away from the subject a little. He did make the point that it was a very different moral code at the time, and hence we have lost a little perspective on the culture that surrounded footy at the time.

However he played, he retired 40 years ago now and it doesn't stop him from being correct. It's only a matter of time until someone repeats king-hit tactics on opposition players in a GF and it wins or nearly wins them the game, like in did in 1970 (Peter McKenna), 1971 (Peter Hudson), 1973 (Geoff Southby) and 1989 (Brereton).
Just on McKenna
I'm pretty sure that was friendly fire from Tuddenham

Listened to his sporting life on SEN the other week

Because Impey was wimpey.
might not be SFW, but I'd love a player to mime tossing some money to a player like Impey, and express that he goes down very easily. :winkv1:
He push/bumped Smith about as hard as Smith gave him a taste of the sherrin. They really need a way to shame or take the piss at them when they drop like that.

Errors, and the elephant in the room - selfishness. I called this during the game day thread, but always like to check two full replays (and rewinds) to clarify above the emotions. Managh, Stengle, Clohesy and Cameron all took ill advised shots that should have been passed on to team mates in better position. Last week it was Henry.

Fine when it works, but it seems these shots (misses) are taken by players on the edge, or in quiet form - what does that tell you?
Incoming ball F50, Neale is continuing to play from behind, seems slow to realise he must get front position, does not read the play well, poor reflexes including ground balls, at this moment. Yes, some of them redeemed themselves, but the fact remains, offensively, get your heads up and find someone screaming for it!. Inexperience is not an excuse.
Or perhaps :-
Players under extreme pressure make poor decisions
Some players have too much confidence in their skills
They just missed seeing a teammate in a better position
Coaches instruction to an out of form player: take the shot

I prefer to use Occam's Razor before Hickam's Dictum.

Shannon Neale went from having one of the worst moments of his short career to a couple of the best moments in the space of a few minutes.

His failure to bodyline man and ball saw them kick a goal, but a big contested grab and the intercept and follow up tackle on Scrimshaw that led to the winning goal showed great character by not dropping his head and remaining in the game.

I say this to my daughter all the time, it might not be your game but make it be your moment.
She's done that a few times.
Shannon has aswell, really bodes well for the future that even when he has moments that should embarrass him, he doesn't drop the head, nor does he over react the other way and overly attack the next contest, but goes back, takes a breath and does exactly what he should do in the next situation, and the following small handful.
Didn't have a good game, but in a few moments he was excellent.

Crabtree's Bludgeon will work. :) I just examine the replay.

How was that ‘not’ intentional?

Miers was handballing.
Nash went high, no where near the ball

EDIT:
Even Gary Lyon said his arm was no where near the ball
Watched and Re-watched the replay
The ball was dropping from above
When Nash starts to swing his arm ...
Miers hand and Ball were at eye level
refer to first photo above
Miers hands continue to drop with the ball
Nash makes late contact... looks bad

Reckless action : Three Weeks early plea.

Can confirm Knevitt got a fair bump to the right hip/glute in the first quarter (11m mark) and got up very slowly. Stretched but looked sore for a while. Perhaps a reason for his slowness, can be seen labouring after a tackle at the clearance a couple of minutes later.

If Miers wasn’t subbed out, Knevitt could have on what appears to be a hard cork.

Does anyone have the H2H of Easter Monday wins for each side since it became a thing back in 2010? Feel like our Cats have won 70% of the easter Monday clashes.
It's actually closer to 80%.

14 games so far and we're up 11-3.

Watching how they used him today, I'm pretty sure we've got more than a few options to replace Ollie

For a few centre bounces in the second quarter, Henry was moved out from the forward line to play up on the wing with Cameron & Dangerfield, sometimes Neale and the smaller forwards the preferred option for the 6-6-6 setup

Then in the last quarter it was noticeable that a few teammates looked for options other then Henry in our forward 50, with first Stengle waiting for Dangerfield to get open in the pocket and then Close waiting for Mannagh to get open, all the while Henry was leading pretty much straight in front

At the moment, it looks like Dangerfield has taken the 3rd tall/focal point up forward role from Henry and he's currently playing that better. So not sure we necessarily need to replace Henry with another forward, but adding to the midfield could be an option

I’d honestly look at bringing Ted Clohesy up full time to replace him as a utility.
Danger already does the third tall option at an elite level.

We are better off going smaller with Ted and having Ted’s ability to run, tackle, pressure and play midfield as well.
Ollie might need some time in the 2’s to get his confidence back and then bring him up as a sub to be an energy guy.

Come on in a burst and create plays from there. If guys like a Stanley and Duncan can play VFL level then so can Ollie.

Does anyone else find it kinda surprising who we've found an ally in?

The thread makes for interesting reading

Tom Morris won me over when I heard him analysing cricket.
He is just unbelievable. Possibly the best I've ever heard. I'm not joking. He has a deep knowledge of history and all of the Aussie players will open up when talking to him.

If I was him. I'd go work in cricket all over the world full time.

I'd actually play Ollie as a versatile sub, if he has a good few weeks in the VFL. Has played some wing, and can play deep forward or half forward. Could be a spark for a quarter, rather than play a whole game and act lost for 95% of it.

Right now, he's the worst player in our side, and it's not close. The amount of contests he shirks and amount of contests his defender gets to, he's just offering nothing. Needs some confidence, and needs to show some of what made him so good in 2023/2024.

I've been to the scg for footy. So true
The most furiated i have been at a footy game was when i paid 2,500 dollars for a seat at the 2007 grand final (all that was available) and some spectators around me said “ who is that no29?”....

Seriously??? How can people who have probably never even seen an AFL football before be getting access above die hard fans?? Who are being corporate priced out of the biggest day of the year.

I am lucky i have always had money, but i can imagine not everyone has the luxury to fork out stupid amounts to see it.

The AFL has no priority or care for the fans. Only the $$$

I didn't know about the other two, but I like them all!

I found my wife naked in bed with the pool boy. Occam's Razor says she's having an affair.

I found my wife naked in bed with the pool boy. Hickam's Dictum says she always sleeps naked, and, separately of that, the pool boy was tired, overheated, and needed a lie down.

I found my wife suspended naked in mid-air by the ankle, 30 metres above the pool, with no visible means of suspension. Crabtree's Bludgeon says that the pool boy must be an alien and God works in mysterious ways!
