Ok CC I apologise, you made some changes, got your tactics right and the boys responded positively.

McPharlin going back (long overdue), must stay there now.
Haselby dragging Licuria to the forward line, keeping him off the ball.

But most of all, the boys woke up and wanted that one!

Nice game coach!

You've restored some temporary faith.

I dare say McPharlin should be floated forward on occasion in the future still. Maybe not to start the game there or play a whole quarter, but to have the flexibility to just throw him forward at some stage in a match to mix things up a bit would be very tempting. When the opposition can't plan for him is when he's at his most dangerous!

He has a good record up forward of late against the Demons and if this proves to be another shoot out I'd throw him up forward for patches and see how he goes!

I think CC is doing the right thing with McPharlin. There is no doubt he is a star in the backline and could be AA if he was played there all year. But...
When Groves and Haddrill get up and running again we will be quite well stocked down back. CC has kept this in mind, and exposed Luke to the forward line as much as he possibly could this year. It hasn't always worked as planned, as teams have usually flooded heavily when we play Pav and McP forward and we are just starting to learn how to cope with it, but I think it will reap us rewards in the long term. Having a number of genuinely talented talls in the forward line can mean the difference between winning and losing in September (just ask Woosha).
Also, props to you Malpaso for recognising a great game by the players, and the coach. Well done.

Agree Roundhouse. We have a surfeit of KPP especially backmen, and we would be a much more dangerous side if we can find a couple of dominant tall forwards. With Grover, Haddril, Mundy, Johnson, Rash and Parker all double-plus-capable, plus some fringe/up and comers on the horizon, we need to develop the pointy end of the team. The potential flexibility of Murphy and MacPharlin is a very exciting thing to watch develop. At this stage it hasn't clicked, but I fully support what is being attempted.

Don't get too excited boys. Haddrill will not be back. Two games in two years? A long history of ankle and knee injuries - all of which slow you down. His time is over - sadly because he was good.
Parker due for the pension.
Thornton unable to shake whatever virus he has.
Muphy can more than hold down FF. MacPharlin plays his best football down back.
Put him there: leave him there.

Sailor, Haddrill has not had a good run but are you suggesting he will be cut? I would think it's all over for this year but surely they will give him next year to get his body right?

I would have thought he's a little like Gaspar @ West Coast, in that we have committed to getting him right. Too far down the path to turn back now.

Thornton doesn't have a virus, he has a disease, called Crohns. Making it very very hard for him to put on weight. Treatment is steroids, which he can't take for obvious reasons.

Haddrill will be back, he looked more than capable in the games he played. Parker may retire, but i'm sure CC will try and convince him to run around for another year.

Did you think Hayden wouldn't return??? because it seems Haddrill is going down a very similar path. Hayden is starting to show the form from 2003 in the past 2 games.

Agree 100%.

Obviously some who post here do not follow the injury list or listen to someone who knows nothing about anything let alone football. For all your information Scotty Thornton has a shoulder injury, can't remember exactly when or who he did it against but he will be out I believe for another few weeks.
That is with a shoulder injury, yes a shoulder injury.

Murphy hasn't been able to hold down FF yet, let alone "more than". But hopefully he will be able to.

The reality is we have a good range of KPP's, and MacP looks like he can be useful in the forward line. Maybe not permanently, but he has been dangerous up there, especially when it caught opposition unaware.

Was there on sunday got to see elvis close up on Rocca in Q's 1& 3, Played him well and actually made him look second rate. Down back he can use his leap. Gave the backline added expereince and structure. Sailor agree. For hadrill he will be a depth player, Johnno has taken his spot.
yes a can use Elvis down forward if Pav is being held. Only for short bursts.

The reason the players do well at the MCG(5-2 record in last seven) is that they all understand how to play the ground- dominate the corridor, move it quickly and have marking targets up forward. If the Dockers have to play at the MCG during the finals they will be a big chance- they have belief in the game they need to play.

Now the coach needs to instill the same confidence in playing our own home ground.

Scotty dislocated his shoulder against Brisbane...what was being refered to is the fact(as mentioned) is that he has Crohns Disease and can`t bulk up sufficiently.

He will probably be back soon from the shoulder problem, but Crohns is a serious illness and to be honest probably won`t have a long career..the least of his worries IMO

I agree that it will be a hurdle for him, but it definitely does not rule out an AFL career. There are a few NFL and NHL players, as well as successful olympic athletes, who have had long and successful careers while suffering from Crohn's disease. (I'm assuming Thorton is a sufferer based upon the number of times people have posted about it here, although I haven't heard it from the club). He may be affected more at certain times, especially when training becomes more intense, and this may cause him a few weeks on the sidelines here and there. I think this may be why he was rested at the beginning of the year and placed on a modified training program. He is however, in my opinion (and the club's too I guess), still capable of making an impact with the proper management.
As for Haddrill, I can't believe some people are writing him off. He made a full recovery from ankle and hamstring injuries this year and didn't look slow at all in the WAFL or upon return. The knee injury he suffered in his comeback game is a three month injury, not an twelve month ACL, and he should be able to get in a full preseason before the start of next year. Plus, it seems like he has a great work ethic on the track and in the weights room (he has developed a huge upper body while injured), so motivation shouldn't be a problem. Writing him off completely is going too far, I say. He has been one of our best defenders in the past, and there is every chance he will regain his 2003 Australian selection form next year. Go the Drill!

You only just started a count;)
My count is CC 3 - Me 15:D

A win tomorrow, or if we play well and lose and some further faith will be restored. If we play like crap and get flogged by 40+ points the pressure will be right back on. I do feel sorry for CC a little as he can't slip up at all without everyone wanting him gone. I don't change one week from the other, I have believed for the last 2 years we need another coach to take us into the top 4 and stay there. If CC can do it then congrats! I still believe we are wasting the best list we have had with a coach who lacks respect from the player group.

I totally agree, the sooner he goes the better. I have to say though I think Schwab play's a massive part in the club's lack of success up to this point and I wouldn't be dissapointed to see him go also.

That is just an ignorant comment. Schwab has led an administration that has gotten us out of financial trouble (big trouble!), increased our membership and given us more exposure as a club. That's what his job is!
All of that and without on-field success. If he has a fault he is probably a little too loyal to CC, but the rest of this year will tell the fault of that.

Can you point me to something that has contributed to our lack of success that has been Schwab's doing?
