Desparate to fix the ceiling in a holden 1999 com . Got to do it by Monday. What kind of glue can you use . Could we do it ourselves its for a roadworthy test( got yellow sticker everything else fixed .). I'm no trimmer but gotta get this done in the next three days. No pins /staples I've been told by authority.

Any suggestions . Cash job?

JJ.

I've got a VU ute with the same problem, tried some shit in a can from super cheap auto, fell straight back down. They've got the same stuff in a jar, which would be a bit better, able to put more on. Hopefully someone with more idea than me can help you!

I did this job twice in my last car (Pulsar) before I sold it. The problem is due to the foam between the board and the fabric deteriorating. The first time, we pulled the roof lining out of the car through the rear hatch, peeled the fabric off and resealed it with spray-on adhesive. It flopped back down the first time I drove it, and was arguable worse because the shitty spray-on glue was the only thing holding the fabric on. The next time, we repeated the process but used a paint on adhesive. It held for at least a few weeks until I sold the car.

I have two tips. 1) Get someone else to help you. It helps to have two sets of hands during the glueing process. 2) Start from the interior light and work out from there. This will help you get it glued down nice and flat.
