Doubt that happens though would be interesting to see if you scrapped all the UAP and the compliance measures and replaced with a flat income to everyone with a tfn (or everyone with a citizenship) what the outcome would be.

You will not be able to check for income thresholds if you choose the every citizen approach.

UBI is a separate conversation

None of what I listed has anything to do with making sure people don't claim welfare payments while being above the thresholds, its all either

a) busy work to justify JSPs / justify removing payments from people for no good reason
b) a way to depress wage growth and let places get workers for well below the rates they'd have to pay staff

work for the dole is evil, you don't get paid appropriately for the work you do, it's government sanctioned wage theft

JSPs are an actual parasite sitting there redirecting billions from the welfare system into their pockets

100% spot on.
Hundreds of thousands that were on Jobseeker due to the pandemic went back to work without any assistance from JSP's.
JSP's are parasites that add zero value to the system.

It was always like that.
Back in the old CES days they were meant to help you find a job.
I was qualified in Engineering and living in kind of a problem area during a recession, they'd dredge up some job on their list in the medical field, ( and without being in that field , i could tell it was hideously underpaid for the qualification they were asking for ) " ummmm this looks like something technical " .

All they've done is outsource their incompetence.

Got a nastygram in the mail today ordering me to attend a meeting with MEGT next Monday. Roll eyes, log in to new and improved mygov, read the multiple-nested new terms and conditions and privacy policies before shrugging and ticking yes I agree with this carte blanche to do anything they like with me and my data, then follow the bouncing ball to get the right Centrelink number to call to get this shit sorted out once and for all.

Ring, wants CRN, all good, now wants voice print identification before it will do anything more.

GAGF you campaigners, I'll go in there tomorrow morning.

If you expect your jsp to find you a job then your expectations are going to not be met for the most part.. especially if you are wanting then to find a gig in engineering for you. Unless someone has a contact in that area you aren’t going to get it from your Jsp.. matched to something you can do however is what they do…

Like most things you need to actually to be bothered to apply for things yourself. Your Jsp really is there to try and job match with their sources as best they can and make sure your resume is updated and current.. for the most part ( unless you get a gun worker or a newbie) they don’t even review your job search as Centrelink mark it anyway as part of their improved service.

You're really underscoring how useless JSPs are.

1. They don't do any of the work for you.
2. The services they provide can be found somewhere else, like Seek. For free and with no government funding.

The attitude that people on welfare don't deserve it, or help and support.
It's clear in your posting.

You're view was JSP were not there to help people out fix anything needing they get paid to do nothing/ punish people on welfare, and your asking if I'm a cop lol

Almost everyone on the dole has at some point worked, paid taxes and contributed to society or will do so in years ahead. You're damn right it's a ****ing right.

Don't want to sound like entitled or nothing, but I paid almost $700k in tax in 15 years since moving back from NZ before a series of life reversals saw me struggle for three years before trudging to a centrelink office blubbing in humiliation at the disgrace of having to ask for help.

All the hurdles, all the constant grinding down, for $15k a year. Too sick to work, nowhere near sick enough to qualify for a benefit, therefore go through the farcical charade every month of applying for jobs that I either couldn't do, or was way overqualified for, or too old for even if I had been well enough to do them.

Seeing how The System is designed to keep people in poverty, with no dignity, with "Service" providers doing absolutely **** all yet reaping millions for acting as the privatised compliance arm of the jump-through-hoops policy makers from both sides of parliament, was an eye opener for me.

It is utterly sickening and has absolutely no place in a civilised, caring society.

Hopefully the low-income card I've applied for comes through; once it does I'm happy to tell them exactly where they can shove their ****ing fortnightly pittance. And yes that means They have won; I'll be one of the many many thousands who aren't "unemployed," not because I'm employed, but because I no longer wish to participate in such a system. I won't contribute to the figures. Look! One less unemployed!

I'll take my chances and live on the couple of thousand left from the corona supplement (no big TV for me!) and from stuff I buy and sell or do odd jobs as and when I'm healthy enough.
