I've been a member of big footy for years and seldom post. I do read comments every single day though. I think tonight's game has given us the best insight to our needs. I know I hate long threads so I'm dot pointing for simplification. I've made the post changes for 2018 as we can't change overnight but we have a few real areas we need to fix. PLEASE NOTE - I'm using tonight's team as the benchmark and only adding the changes I expect by 2018

1. Mason cox will improve and is hard to defend being so tall, he stays in BUT Moore replaces Cloke, making cox the second option.

2. We need a dynamic small forward. We have Elliot and fasolo, fas especially is coming good and not hampered by the injuries of Elliot STILL we need a crumbling small not a lead up, Blair being replaced by either Callum brown OR josh daicos by 2018 would be great.

3. Tall defender... I don't know here... I really don't. Ried is great and Howe has his moments as does marsh but the two latter players are iffy with disposal and brown tonight had multiple smothers outside the defensive 50. Brown as much as I love his job in 2010 is really pretty average for a top 10 pick. He has no weapons other than spoil. We need a shaz in defence for 2018 but his knees are not great...

4. Greenwood. He is a good tagger but just doesn't have enough polish... In a team lacking polish it really is evident. I'm hoping degoey is a class player by 2018 and the guy losing his spot is greenwood.

5. As a final note and a positive, Aish is starting to show some real skill. By 2018 aish, treloar, Adams, Grundy, degoey and a few others should really be looking the goods!!!

Hahah yeah sorry, one too many beers perhaps. Is love Callum ward but yeah I meant brown.

I really think we have the foundation of a great team, we are just missing a few spots. Brown, greenwood, Blair, Cloke (love the guy but by 2018) fix those 4 players and we will be very good

That I do agree with. In 2-3 Years that has Potential being 1 of the Best Midfield in the Comp

I'm glad you agree with point 5. Does is mean though you don't believe trav will be finished by 2018, we don't need a crumbling forward and we have issues with Nathan brown as our lock down key back and greenwood as a midfielder?

By 2017 we play finals or bucks loses his job, it's that simple... I really really hope we have a good run with injuries as its hurt us the last few years.

Improve the 5 points I raise in 2017 and by 2018, we will be challenging.

2018 we are a better chance at a spoon than a flag. The list is very mediocre compared to what we will be competing against.

I'm not writing the post as if 2017 is written off. Look what the Bulldogs did this year compared to last!

The purpose of this thread was long term development. We might have Moore, Grundy, Adams, treloar and fasolo etc play amazing football and we make top 4 next year, it's probably unlikely though. I do think we are moving in the right direction but it's at least 12 months away hence the comparison between tonight's team and 2018.

By 2018 Grundy, Adams, treloar, Aish, degoey and a number of others will be good too players. I think Pendlebury, Sidebottom and some others will also still be of a high class.
