In: Sidebottom, Bryan, Shaw
Out: Beams, L. Brown, Toovey

IF Jack Anthony is out then put in Rocca. Medhurst is out put in Dawes or Dick.

Bryan can be useful here, playing as a forward ruck. His kicking is quite good which could help us break through the Saint's defence. I think Macaffer should be given another game, a few more games pumped into him and I think he'll start showing to be more damaging.

I'm thinking now we need to change it up a bit, move Cloke close to goal, and although he hasn't stood out overly in the 2's, bring in a mobile like Reid and play him as the lead up option. He couldn't have any less impact than Cloke right?

Like a previous poster said, Fisher will cut Rocca to ribbons at the moment.

I prey that Medhurst comes up. Think he's a fair dinkum chance to.

I think the saints are due and have been playing a hard and taxing style. If we get the mix right we're a real chance.

Leave Cloke in the goal-square, with Thomas right beside him. Everyone else get out of the forward line.

Hope for the best.

I've always preferred Cloke as a FF. But I think I heard somewhere that he prefers to play CHF. Whatever the case is, his form is crap. He needs to change and it's been 6 rounds already and he's still crap so either we change him to FF or we drop him to the two's.

has beams been confirmed have not seen it any where asuming he is playing
OUT
Baraham, Medders(inj), Brown + if suspened Jack

IN
Stanley, Shaw, Bryan + if Jakc suspened Rocca

Stanley suerley has to get his opportunity and Baraham is the unlucky one purely because of his turnovers(I know stanley is no dead eyed dick but surely his earned a call up) if beams is injured then I guess he is out I know we could bring in sidebottom but I think 5 changes isn't a very good thing especially after a 52 point win

Shaw has to be ready and medders is injured pretty self explanatory if meds pulls up with the ten day break and the club deems it is ok to play him then toovey would have to go.

bringing in Bryan purely because Josh can't be expected to go toe to toe with the saints three big men and I think Bryan matches up well with with Gardiner and he is the type of guy who can bash and crash into Kosi to try and expose him for being a bit underdone.

The Jack to Rocca one is pretty simple

Beams definitely has a groin complaint.

Rocca should NOT play.

Defensive pressure is VITAL against St Kilda and their rebound.

Rocca won't offer defensive pressure. I would not bring him in for this game.

then who comes in Dawes has been playing horribly in vfl and rusling isn't fit

MacAffer - N Brown - Cox
Thomas - Cloke - Lockyer

What's wrong with that forward line?

Presti to Kosi and Harry to Riewoldt down the other end. Brown at FF can work.

Alternatively Brown to CHF and Cloke deep could work.

i think the basic changes will be fair enough, it's just a few different tactical ideas that MM might play with - eg. Thomas on Sam Fisher seems like it may work - if Fisher plays loose Thomas can get him, and Thomas can restrict Fisher's run similar to the Josh Drummond game.

Rocca should play up high rotating with Leigh Brown and Josh who share the ruck as normal, with Cloke deeper - Cloke's defensive pressure has still been good although he has dropped his leading a bit. Defensive forward line pressure is almost a bigger key than winning the midfield.

I would prefer Chris Bryan instead of L. Brown. Will provide more defensive pressure, better at the ruck in our forward 50 and I trust his kicking more than Brown's.

I like it although I doubt MM will see it that way and he proably bring in rocca unless he is unfit

I think Toovey needs to be dropped and traded or delisted. He's not worth wasting anymore time on. He may get the ball but his thinking and disposal is very frustrating. OUT - Anthony (susp) Toovey (worst player in comp) Beams (inj)and IN - Rocca (gotta give him a go!) Shaw (awesomeness) Sidebottom (it's time).

I was "sick" and didn't go to uni today so I queued up the HDD and watched the recording of Friday night's game. Toovey was outstanding. No doubt about it. I seriously suggest you watch the game again. Some players, you will realise, played better than you remember (Dane Swan played even better than I thought, Leon played a little worse than I thought, Barham is incredibly fast, L. Brown does nothing, Corrie is very agile and has good hands etc). I don't know if you were kidding... but really. Toovey is fast, has great decision making in close and his kicking is actually about a 70/30 prospect (and improving). I'm getting tired of people bashing the same players week-in week-out for no reason.

Oh, and this may surprise you; Tooves actually set up several rebounds out of defence. Go and watch the replay, I dare you.

He may have done a couple of good things when the pies have a dominating lead, but lets just see him cough up the ball when the game is tough and he is under pressure - that's when you can see he's not good enough for afl.

I watched the entire game, mate. I'm not an idiot; I know when to place importance on touches and kicks and so on. Toovey was admirable all game, but especially in the intense first quarter. Please don't criticize players if you don't properly look at their game (which you clearly haven't). I don't usually get confrontational on these message board things but with all due respect, I think I'm right.

I don't think Toovey plays amazingly every week but he did play well on Friday and has played pretty well each week (with the possible exception of Anzac Day).

I'm going to go against the trend here;

Rocca must, and absolutely will play. Now JA is gone for a week due to stupidity, you need to replace him. We can't place N.Brown or L.Brown down there permanently, they have other roles to play. JA's had 5 kicks on the weekend, and his defensive effort was the 2nd worst (behind Cloke's) of the forwards.

As for Toovey, he killed Lindsay Thomas, who almost single handedly beat us twice last year, great job by the most under rated player at our club. In marking contests, he doesnt get beat one on one, he is a little Presti, and MM loves him, so he will play this week, on Milne or Schneider.

As for other inclusions, I want Steele Sidebottom in if Beams doesnt play, perfect opportunity to debut, against a good side, Monday night, big stage, the kid will show up.

Rocca and Toovey will play, I hope Medhurst, Shaw and Beams do also.

It seems we have different view on Toovey - I don't think he is in our best 22 but that's my opinion, he'll eventually be back in the 2's where he belongs as we get back to full strength along with some up and comers. Yeah I think Rocca will definitely be back this week and hopefully hitting up some form. He'll be the key to Cloke starting to fire again.

outs: barham, beams (inj), l.brown, medders (if inj), anthony (suspended)
ins: shaw, stanely, Bryan, sidebottom, rocca (if available) if not reid

seeing as we played stanners at half forward in the vfl, either he or sidebottom could play the role of medders if needs be

bryan is a better choice than brown purely because i'd fancy him over brown against king and gardiner.

i still prefer a collingwood outfit with anthonyy rocca than without him and we'll need a big strong presence in the forwardline. if he's not available though, reid comes in and bryan/fraser could rotate FF

team could look like this

B - o'Brien presti toovey
HB - shaw brown maxwell
C - clarke swan stanely
HF - corrie cloke thomas
F - macaffer rocca lockyer
R - fraser pendlebury davis

int- sidebottom, o'bree, wellingham, bryan

Toovey is the least of our worries. We play StKilda and Carlton over the next two weeks. Our forward line will be pretty thin on stars, at least against the saints. Why not bring Reid in for a forward role, or even to play on Riewolt? He has the pace and height to go with him. Nathan Brown was smashed by him last time.

Stanley has to come in after his VFL game. Has anyone thought that he may have been playing HFF in the 2nds to give him another string to his bow, to equip him to hold a spot in the AFL. Just trying to put a positive spin on the treatment of him.

Maybe Sidebottom, though this adds to 2 slowish players to the mix. Maybe Cox! And Wood, if he is fit. The Saint's rucks are the best combo around.

I repeat - Toovey is OK. Leave him alone.

If Rocca is 80% or better, play him, but tie a 20 metre rope round his ankle from the goal post. He's never going to make the fast leads again - his acceleration is leisurely at best these days but he hasn't got any smaller. He's still a serious problem one out for any single defender in a straight marking contest in the goal square. The trick to getting the most out of him is to provide the delivery to suit his limited mobility. Forget his chest and drop it on his head.
