I think we'll win in a tough battle.
Maybe we should also select Mason Cox using that reasoning. Not to mention his last ditch effort in the dying seconds of 23 premiership.

I’m happy to concede 2 goals before a switch- remembering this is a baptism of fire to see if Dean can handle the task.My god
Do you want to give them 3 goals head start ?
Dean goes out this week and is a delist for mine
There are not too many that could catch him when he takes possession, turns and gets those first few pcaes in. He is deceptively quick over the first 5m or so.Some people mention Long being slow. I can picture him breaking away from packs and carrying the ball a good distance fairly regularly since he’s been in the side.
Maybe we should also select Mason Cox using that reasoning.
I would actually play Dean on Curnow to really test him out knowing he can always switch if it gets ugly.
It’s time for Dean to prove himself, against a high quality opponent.
He's only had one senior game so far this season and the rest of the team weren't playing their best.I’m not too confident that’s a test Dean can pass when he can’t pass the tests of even beating far lesser opponents than Curnow
Dean seems to look completely lost every time he plays senior football
Which is odd given that allegedly our VFL team plays the same system as the AFL team to make transitions between levels easier

It's good that the coaches are trying out new roles and positions with our players. Some may work and some not. As you say it may come in handy in future.I only mentioned it because its where he was given in yesterday's match sim partly. It could just be something they might have in a just in case situation, I just found it interesting.
Where’s the risk? Given a contingency of a better match up is easily made. There’s no leg up if Howe, Moore or Bruzz, is switched onto him.But more significantly, what do you actually find out from this test? Curnow on his day can and has taken down some of the very best KPFs in the league and made them look ordinary. And he's also had some shit days on some pretty ordinary KPDs. So ultimately it's a low percentage match up giving an extremely dangerous player a leg up for no ****ing reason.
What’s his skills like Jen? Good user and kick?Been very consistent.
Hard working.
Tough.
Good endurance.
That’s why I suggested moving Josh. Assuming Sidey doesn’t play though with the inclusion of Mitchell against a Carlton midfield minus Cottrell, Walsh and Hollands I don’t think pace is an issue.Problem is if you take away Nick from the midfield: how slow is a midfield of Long, Titch, Pendles and Sidey? You've then got to move someone else out to bring Crisp in to add a bit more pace.
I think so.What’s his skills like Jen? Good user and kick?
That’s a blessing because bringing a guy back who hasn’t played in 18 months and shuffling Long sideways as a result on top of everything else would be poor business.Haven’t seen any credible sources suggesting it is happening
It’s the step up in athlete. At VFL level he plays within the confides of the system against kids or VFL battlers. At the top level where he’s asked to beat guys with better athletic profiles and experience he unfortunately doesn’t have the tools.I’m not too confident that’s a test Dean can pass when he can’t pass the tests of even beating far lesser opponents than Curnow

Murphy showed signs early in careerI’m happy to concede 2 goals before a switch- remembering this is a baptism by fire to see if Dean can handle the task.
I would not be recommending this approach without the contingency of a better match up, if Curnow dominates.
Just like inexperienced Murphy was tested with big jobs, and proved himself, we need to begin similar tests for Dean.
He's only had one senior game so far this season and the rest of the team weren't playing their best.
We kept playing Ed Allan even though he wasn't that great to start with so think Dean deserves more games before deciding he's no good.
Ok - so how are we going to decide Dean is NOT a delist option, unless we start testing him, on quality opponents.I don’t have an issue with that in principle. I’ve said similar many times about a few VFL players
But:
1) Key position defender is a position where “give the bloke a shot” can cost you games. Very directly.
2) Why choose the main key forward to “give him a go” on? Why not go the second or third tall?
I would probably have gone more like Sandy Brock v Jesse Hogan, but your reference gave me a chuckle.Putting Dean on Curnow would be like putting Keane on Taberner in his debut game.
hah only because I think we all remember that vividly lol Poor keane. Debut by fire indeed.I would probably have gone more like Sandy Brock v Jesse Hogan, but your reference gave me a chuckle.
Quite obvious he is in for Sidey so not sure why the bed wettingThat’s a blessing because bringing a guy back who hasn’t played in 18 months and shuffling Long sideways as a result on top of everything else would be poor business.
