The big change in 2011 was Leon to the backline.

What do people think will be some major changes to the structure with Buckley at the helm??

M.Clarke...most seem to think he is a HB option, but I think he could be used in the middle or even across HF.

Harry to the wing?

Maxwell or Wellingham to be used as defensive 'tagging' players?

If N.Brown is fully fit, does he play FB and Tarrant shift to the Harry type role of playing on mids and smalls??

Is Goldsack in the best 22??

Which big comes in for L.Brown - Wood, Keefe, N.Brown, Ceglar???

Every coach ends up with their 'favourites', usually a player or two who others see as fringe and who cringe when they keep getting games. MM had several during his tenure, Leon perhaps the most celebrated, a few West Coast rejects perhaps the most frustrating. Tony Shaw was in love with Jason Wild. Bux will have his own 'favourites' come through, usually players who do the team things and who try harder than most, will be interesting to see who they are.

* Midfield tagger
* Tooves may be phased out given Bucks penchant for kicking efficiency
* Less bombing the ball down the line, more corridor play
* 2 ruckman to play, one resting forward

Bucks knows what it's like to have a tagger hanging off his backside and how irritating it was, along with having a ruckman with the ability to tap to advantage during the whole game.

I expect our play to hold up at sometimes and find a short target. Hopefully not to the extent of the Hawthorn chippy, chip chip game style that is rubbish to watch.

I expect to see Taz playing a pure swingman role. Last year we were hampered by N Brown's absence and assuming both Reid and N Brown are fit and in form, Taz could be doing more of this.

He is a genuine threat as the 3rd tall in the fwd line and would add another matchup issue for opposing defences.

I could even see Taz having a stint in the midfield. The guy has the pace and smarts to create havoc there too.

Running Taz in the centre is asking for trouble considering his age, sure he is still fit but pushing him through the grinder which is the centre nowadays is going to give his aging body a pounding that it doesn't need.

I see the club in a transition stage now with Bux being the antithesis to Mick in that Mick thought reduce risks and attack from opposition mistakes Bux is more of a put your foot on their throat and see how that works type of guy :D

Why the hell are people suggesting Brown will take the FB spot from Tarrent/Reid?? Both of them have been amazing this year and Brown hasnt played much football, lately, or in general and just commming off a few long term injuries, even at his best he probably isnt better than Reid and Tarrent atm who were both in AA form most of 2011.

After comming off his injuries and not playing for ages he'll be a long way from his best and only come in to replace an injury or a rested Tarrent... that is ASSUMING he doesnt get injured again... which is a big assumption

No idea what Bucks has planned but I do think there is scope for a run with player in midfield. Been tried but no one has embraced the role yet. Also cant wait to see how the tarrant/Reid/brown situation is handled as all best 22 imo. How Marty Clarke is used will be interesting as well. Proven AFL half back but we have good depth there does he release shaw/maj or play elsewhere? Could be the run with mid we lack, huge tank.
Anyway can't wait to find out!

Yes, unfortunately, you're probably spot on with Brown. He had a very good couple of games against Nick but his form before that was pretty patchy. I think he might end up like his brother and be struggling to get a game next year. I hope that I'm wrong and I dont want to seem disrepectful to him because I know how much he is man-loved by many in the forum.

i dont think too much will change under buckley ..although i reckon there might be some more attacking play through the corridor with a big emphasis on repeat defensive and offensive running. with leon gone cant wait to see marty come back in and maybe see heath shaw move into the middle as with sidey and beams having more influence..

go pies

Listening to his interview on YouTube after Harvey was announced as assistant coach Buckley said the game was going to evolve into a more attacking game with players in the midfield increasing their running. Basically saying what you wrote.
