defence looked worse than it is based on the midfield getting done. in saying that armfield needs to go back to the bullants and learn how to kick. I would persist with browne, i think he is more capable than armfield.

forward line needs some tweaking. setanta took some good grabs but he cant kick, he doesnt move the ball on quick enough and to be honest, i think he would be useful in defence now that bower is out. Then again, Pavlich has just done his calf so maybe thorntan and a player like johnson is enough to fix the defence next week. We need players who can keep the ball in our forward line..the ball came out of it too fast and easy last night. Cloke may need to come in. I know he hasnt been in good form but we need a CHF, another option to help free up Fev. Fev had 3 players on him at once last night, it is too hard.

While he didn't do that much yesterday, Bower's run out of defence in the past month and a half has been fantastic.

It has been, not taking a dig here. In fact Pauly B is my most favourite player at the club. My point is when you have that many players playing primarily defensive games then you're really going to struggle, and that's exactly what happened.

I'm pretty sure that Robbo got suspended in the VFL so can't come in next week. I want Stevens to be dropped as it would send a message but it will not happen.

- Armfield (I didn't mind him when he started but he has no awareness of the game and his skills aren't great, I know he is quick but that doesn't cut it)
- Bower (injured )
- Bannister (not up to it and Fish played well last night)

IN:
- Garlett (shouldn't have been dropped in the first place)
- Thornton (is now even more important with Bower gone)
- Hadley (needs to give Judd some help with the contested ball, been in good form for the Ants)

Don't see the need for Hartlett (especially as it is at Subiaco and his lack of speed could be found out) with Pavlich to miss with his injury, Thornton, Austin and Jamo can handle their forward line (Setanta can go back if we really need it).

Gotta love this.

Fev has more forward tackles than most and usually provides great pressure. Pushed 50 tackles last year. most weeks plays hard for the team. Just have to put up with the odd "Fev" moments here he doesn't because the good FAR outweighs the bad. kick him into line and he's right for another 6 weeks. Sometimes you just have to accept the good with the bad. A difficult concept for some I know. We'd be lot worse without him. That's Fev, live with it. Called thinking with your brain and not your frustrations.

I cant choose between who to drop out of stevo and hoops. I am leaning towards hoops at the moment. I think ratts should give stevo an ultimatim and let him know that if he puts in another performance like that he will be wearing the bullants jumper.

Hartlett to come in and to switch between forward line and backline. Hadley in to provide protection for juddy & murph. Thornton to resume his normal role down back.

Sandilands is going to be a big worry this week as is Des Headland. He kicked 5 or 6 against us last time we played at subi. Paul Bowr would have been perfect for him but now I am thinking Aussie should go to him.

Losing to essendon ruined my whole weekend and the only thing keeping my spirits up at the moment is the wa blues function and seeing the blues come out and redeem themselves.

Why would we promote players who aren't even going well at VFL level, or even playing ATM (Robinson, Walker, Garlett, Yarran, Johnson) for guys who only 1 game ago gave exceptional accounts of themselves in Bannister, Armfield, Browne etc.

If a message needs to be sent, then Stevens should be the one......but he won't get the chop. Neither will Fev.

Frees Judd up to get a bit more outside.

Fev to push hard up into ANY stoppage around CHF and SMASH whoever is tagging Judd. The soft approach we have taken to Judds taggers this year is driving me nuts. Any time they go near the footy they should be punished.

Push Austin up to dual forward, O'hAilpin may need to play back if Sandilands goes forwards. Fev to play a decoy more or less and play through Fisher, Austin and Kreuzer.
The only mid I saw in the Ants reports best was Russell......funny how no-one has mentioned bringing him in........punish poor efforts but don't reward good efforts? Hardley seems fair, but I'd probably go with Hadley and put his future on it.

Fisher should be dropped with his papers stamped "never again". Reasonable mark but can not kick (seriously half the time the ball hits his shin) and can not defend - runs around like a headless chook when the opposition has the ball.

Fisher would be unlucky to be dropped but he didn't contribute much.

Bannister got an absolute hiding and was unaccountable even playing as a defender. Is just another player that lacks a yard of pace and is too old for us.

Hartlett's been one of the ants best and most consistant players, we should give him a chance, we have played worse players than him this year.
