In- Moore, HoweI think Buller showed a bit against the Crows and I would be loathed to drop him when he has shown improvement. He is the future and acquitted himself better than McSaty and Membrey.

So, you’re actually agreeing with me that Lipinski’s an auto-pick every week. Glad we’re on the same page!Except that isn't true. Lipinski has been in the side whenever he's been fit for 99% of his time at Collingwood. He missed games through injury and was essentially a lock in the side for the rest of the year.

'I was almost in tears': Magpie's tough road back from injury blow
Pat Lipinski has returned from another shoulder reconstruction and settled in the Magpies' sidewww.afl.com.au
His work rate is clearly rated highly. He is always in position to do something. He can be frustrating, especially given he didn't maintain his career best form that he found for a moment last year, but he is far from representative of some kind of struggle

I think that's an easy thing to arrange. I think the harder thing (and the thing that McRae is looking to do) is to win, regardless of age.Again I’d rather lose while playing some youth.

I malign him for the players he fails to catch in a chase and his tackles that fail to stick / prevent the opposition doing whatever they were planning to do.I think it was at half-time (IIRC) that Lipinski had a team high 4 tackles and 4 score assists. He is a bit of a quiet achiever and becuase he isn't a huge power like a JDG or a super-human athlete like a Naicos or a penetrating kick like a Dan H, he is underratde and a little maligned.
This.I malign him for the players he fails to catch in a chase and his tackles that fail to stick / prevent the opposition doing whatever they were planning to do.
That said, he’s not our worst and he has a place in the team. The problem is when you have a critical mass of players with similar deficiencies.
Blokes who I could run through: Lipinski, Allan, Steele, Sidey, Pendles, Nick, Josh, Houston. There’s the problem.This.
I too like Lipinski but the critical mass of similar types we have is holding us back from evolving and balancing out the team.
The fact that the bulk are all also premiership players is making it difficult for Fly to overlook and make the necessary adjustments hence why we are just fitting in names into a team that is incomplete
I’d put Long in that too.Blokes who I could run through: Lipinski, Allan, Steele, Sidey, Pendles, Nick, Josh, Houston. There’s the problem.
Moore didn't sound like he was going to miss a fair bit of footy when interviewed after his scansIn: Howe, West, Anderson, Steene
Out: Mcstay, Membrey, Allan, Long
I reckon Moore has redone an injury and will be out a while.
Would like to see Perryman get a go for a full game as pure mid and Pendles fwd more.
Backs: Houston, Howe, Quaynor, Maynard, Parker, Frampton, Crisp
Mids: Cameron/Steene, Naicos, Perryman, Jaicos, Lipinski, Sidebottom, Anderson, DeGoey, Steele
Fwd: Schultz, West, Buller, Elliott, McReery, Pendles, Cameron/Steene
Yes, because there is plenty he does that many miss. Lipinski has been a constant for Fly’s entire tenure, through our supposed period of “spark” and that of “dullness” - how is he emblematic of this then? So, you’re actually agreeing with me that Lipinski’s an auto-pick every week. Glad we’re on the same page!
Earlier posters suggested that our team has lost its spark and has a dull sameness about it. To me, Lipinski is the embodiment of that. I feel that he often just goes through the motions, with little impact.
IMO Lipinski’s chasing is glacially slow and his easily-broken jumper grabs and one-arm tackle attempts would cop a coach’s spray in junior footy. But we have so little depth that his place is guaranteed. And that’s the real problem.
Yeah the Lions game is easily our last best close win, I’m only reflecting back on last year.Honestly, I reckon our last impressive close win was the one against the Lions in late 2024.
That Dogs game last year we didn’t ever really look like losing and then the win against Dees was probably one of the most underwhelming/unflattering Pies wins I’ve watched.
I can’t really put my finger on why this particular aspect of our team has changed, but we’ve got a pretty good group of brains at the wheel so I’m sure we’ll sort it (eventually)
You only had to go back to last week. Shouldn’t have been too big an askYeah the Lions game is easily our last best close win, I’m only reflecting back on last year.
Quite concerning we had to go back that far. We need to find that spark again this year.
We had it over the Saints for most of that game. You only had to go back to last week. Shouldn’t have been too big an ask
Its what we all want.Is Charlie West a chance to come in for you guys ?
Young key fwd and might be time to get games into him
Dan can sit this one out for me if anyone is being dropped. His fragility instils no confidence he will rebound and suddenly be presenting and taking contested marks. His decision making is shot. I know dropping him will only further dent his confidence but that's not a reason to keep playing someone who is badly out of form.Moore down back, Howe to add something up front, he changes the forward dynamic. I think Buller sits out, not sure who sits for Moore.
I don’t know what the plan is with him?Its what we all want.
Whether they do it remains to be seen. Hasn't played a game since ballarat which isn't ideal (no vfl game last week, carry over emg sat, bye this weekend...)
Absolutely. It’s time.Is Charlie West a chance to come in for you guys ?

Its not ideal thats for sure.I don’t know what the plan is with him?
If we don’t plan on playing him then why keep him out of that VFL match vs Geelong last week?
It’s really such a shame the scheduling of it all.
Yes, it was a mistake to make him EMG. Bringing him in against GWS with so little recent match play is setting him up to fail. For that reason, I think we’ll leave him out again, sadly. Its not ideal thats for sure.
I would have preferred he get a game in him on sat rather than being an emg, unless there was real cause he could play.
So between ballarat to this GWS game it would be a month since he last played. Having a week gap between vfl games is not great either.
Pretty obvious that with Elliott sitting the first 20 minutes out and missing training during week that he was under a big injury/ illness cloudIts not ideal thats for sure.
