I reckon one of Clurey or Hombsch (my personal preference would be Clurey) needs to drop out for Pittard for team balance’s sake. We barely need three KPD’s against a Lynch and Wright-less GC, let alone four. Your best 22 needs to be your best team of 22 players, not necessarily just your best 22 players.

Look at the team Gold Coast played on the weekend and tell me how we could possibly justify playing four KPD’s.

Howard -> Day
Hombsch -> Witts/Crossley
Jonas -> I dunno, Young?
Clurey -> ???

If you’re one of those guys who can’t stand the thought of bringing in Pittard then McKenzie works too. Even Irra if we wanted to pull out a surprise. Just not Clurey.

He’s right. 4 tall defenders will work occasionally because they are all good footballers but I don’t think it’s our most balanced side, especially with another tall in Marshal to come back in.

It worked against the Crows because Walker, Jenkins, McGovern and Lynch gave them all someone to match up on. It wouldn’t work against the Suns.

All our kpd play short anyways.

Tom Jonas and Hombsch even Howard seem to provide rebound well.

I am more worried about fine tuning our forward line and structure....it's a hot mess.

As much as last night was magical, it still annoys me we rely on the brilliance genius and artistry of Robbie Gray to kick a winning score.

Clurey was pretty average mate.
My problem with the post was the naming of Jasper as the replacement, if we leave out Clurey or Hombsch.
The day of the gold pass is gradually being weeded out. I said in an earlier post that Jasper needs to string together three above average Magpie games and not be out there making up the numbers.
Yes, drop one of the taller backman but replace with the likes of Marshall (if ready) or Trengove.
It will interesting to see if there is still “hate” out there for Sammie Gray, Neade and Houston.

Not sure of the outs but Marshall and AJ are inclusions when ready.

Neade is a 22 player now for us.

Yep, keep it simple.

Clurey for Pittard is a horses for courses pick.
If Marshall wants to play then Marshall for S. Gray (come at me).

And come at me some more.
Ebert for Trengove. Goodbye Turnover King.

Even though he is my buddy this year I think Ebert is getting close to losing his spot to someone like Atley.

Maybe not this week but if he doesn't improve I think it will be soon.
He is leading AFL in tackles.

I didn't think he was playing badly at all might have to follow him closer.

No way - I’m not even convinced Atley is an AFL calibre player as yet, definitely a good SANFL player.

Only change you would consider is to bring Marshall in. Not Pittard.

I’m struggling with Watts and Dixon at present. Neither are doing well enough and their inability to get on the scoreboard is standing out in a forward line that has not kicked enough goals all year.

In the long-term, I would be prepared to play Frampton ahead of Watts as our third tall forward if Watts doesn’t come good.
