changing a zip file to a gif file

I want to put in a new avatar but it is a zip file, could somebody please tell me how to change it to a gif file. Thanks in advance!

if you unzip the zip file then the single avatar should be in its gif file format.

To unzip, simply double click it and a program such as WinZip should come up and you just follow the instructions.

yep, BT got it in one.

a zip file is simply a compressed archive file, which can contain other files. So chances are the zipped file contains a GIF image. If it is some other type of image though, like JPEG or BMP etc then it's a whole other issue.

If your computer doesn't know what to do when you open the zip file, then:

a) you must have a very old and not very up to date computer!!
b) you'll need to download and install an unzipping program like winzip.

And if its not in gif format when unzipped, get IrfanView ... a very easy to use photo manager which will allow you to open in one format and save in another.
