Has anyone ever opted out of a provider for another?

Im with Ozemail @ 24.95 / month and am thinking of going to a cheaper ISP. <www.e-access.com.au>

Ive been with Ozemail forever and wondered whether theres a fee to quit ?

Never had an opt out fee when i dumped Keypoint for another sevice provider however i'd read the fineprint or ring them if your unsure.

I dumped Arachnet for TPG. Didn't have to pay any fees, but what I'd already paid in advance for the newt few months I couldn't get back....

In line with what '78 said, there's almost certainly not going to be a disconnect fee (Pressing 'delete' doesn't strain their staff that much) but your fine print will reveal if you're going to get a pro rata refund or not.

I went from SENET (download limits, screw that) to XiS (the worst ISP on the face of the Earth) to Aardvark Internet who have been nothing but superb.

Have never encountered cancellation fees.

Thanks- Funnily enough I was surfing the Ozemail web site last night and found that they have introduced "new" dial up deals 3 DAYS AGO - cheaper too.

On dial-up, you're not likely to get cancellation fees, but you MIGHT lose any prepaid fees you've paid.

If you're on broadband however, it's perfectly normal to have 6, 12, 18 or even 24-month contracts, and you WILL have to pay to get out of those.
