Channel 7 Broadcast Question

Fellow Pies. Is the Channel 7 broadcast in HD? Because since I got back in country this year I've got to say the quality looks worse in HD than I remember Channel 10 doing it 4 years ago.

I'm watching the Swans v Brisbane game right now on 7Mate and there is NO WAY it is in HD. If they are not broadcasting their games in high quality HD thats piss poor considering channel 10 was doing it for all games 4 years ago.

No HD on any ch7 games. Foxtel only games are HD, and ch7 games shown on foxtel are in the crappy upscaled HD,

Wow..just wow. How is it that the AFL or anybody for that matter let 7 get away with such a load of BS? They should never get the rights to the AFL ever again.

Unfortunately channel 7 spent all their cash on the rights and had no money left over for decent equipment or decent commentators.

Weren't they trying to use the cop out excuse that the anti-siphonIng laws dictate that they must show the games on their primary channel and since that is an SD stream they weren't going to spend the money on recording HD just for replays on alternate channels.

What's their excuse for this? How can they justify not broadcasting it in HD when practically everything is filmed in HD now? I don't think the 2010 Grand Final replay was filmed in HD either.

Brisbane has all games on 7Mate, which is 7's HD channel 73. After so many years of 11.30 delayed telecasts, we now get live games in HD. Win-win.

Its got nothing to do with equipment and everything to do with bandwidth. The football is shot in HD, chanel 7 compress this down to fit on their SD chanels. I can rememeber ever seeing HD content on any of chanel 7's chanels! This is also why fox footy has to upscale the content that 7 gives them, HD downscaled to SD and then upscaled back to HD, just is not the same.

If the AFL had any balls, they wouldn't have allowed 7 to even have the rights.

Channel 9 offered the exact same dollars as 7, but the dispute came down to interstate coverage. 9 was giving the Rugby priority in NSW and QLD.

Dumb decision. 7 is a terrible terrible broadcaster.
